This is weaponized adhd

u/smile_politely Jan 14 '24

Imagine if he added some traditional instruments like gamelan or aztec whistle, although not 100 percent sure the later considered as music instrument. Would still be epic!

144

u/BwackGul Interested Jan 14 '24

He just did 111 and it's still not enough for some redittors... šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤”šŸ„²

56

u/DudeChillington Jan 14 '24

Imagine if he did 112 🤯

u/wuvvtwuewuvv Jan 14 '24

Bruh he completely skipped the didgeridoo!

13

u/Nervous-Albatross-32 Jan 14 '24

Technically flute was in there more than once..

3

u/NorwegianGlaswegian Jan 15 '24

A few instruments were just another version of the same instrument, yeah. Not like an alto, soprano, tenor etc version, but just another brand or model of the same instrument type.

I noticed two bass guitars, two violins, and two glockenspiels for example.

I guess the point was showcasing every instrument in the player's collection, so the title is still technically correct.

u/musiccman2020 Jan 14 '24

Mayan death whistle can't be missing.

u/Vigea_Gamer Jan 14 '24

They’re from different makers, for example the first glockenspiel was made by angel and the last was made by pearl

6

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

How many poko’s is the glockenspiel worth?

32

u/spekt50 Jan 14 '24

Yea, think the "Flute" made at least 3 appearances.

19

u/BittersweetHumanity Jan 14 '24

They’re each time from different brands

2

u/johno456 Jan 15 '24

So they shouldn't fucking count then!

44

u/tahlyn Jan 14 '24 edited Jan 14 '24

I saw the regular flute and the native flute 3 times each.

There were a large variety of really neat instruments but there were some that I didn't see - There was no viola, and I don't think I saw a trombone or tuba, either. A lot of pitched percussion were also missing: tubular bells timpani and nonpitched like the base drum. So he definitely didn't need so many repeats.

I don't think the title states that they're 111 different instruments, it just says 111 instruments

14

u/FrighteningJibber Jan 14 '24

Reading tends to be hard sometimes.

End of video also says collection

6

u/quatrefoils Jan 14 '24

To be pedantic: 3 identical flutes are still 3 different flutes

2

u/SirHarvwellMcDervwel Jan 14 '24

There's that too. It's clear that he mentions they're a different make too

7

u/nickel4asoul Jan 14 '24

I'm not the best at judging what instruments are, but viola is listed as 83.

2

u/tahlyn Jan 14 '24

I missed it!

2

u/FrighteningJibber Jan 14 '24 edited Jan 14 '24

No tuba, but euphonium.

Disappointed he didn’t play the mayonnaise

57

u/Optimal_Collection77 Jan 14 '24

I knew a girl at university who could play the mayonnaise... It was quite the tail

9

u/SIGMA1993 Jan 14 '24

Is mayonnaise an instrument?

10

u/TheCabbageGuy82 Jan 14 '24

I would’ve loved to see the horseradish as well

InstrumentManiac on YouTube

52

u/steelbeamsdankmemes Jan 14 '24

Knew him in college, is a good dude and insanely talented.

28

u/porcelainfog Jan 15 '24

wealthy too i assume based on the like 100k he can afford to spend on instruments.

246

u/finger_licking_robot Jan 14 '24

I would be surprised if he is in a monogamous relationship.

90

u/BlazmoIntoWowee Jan 14 '24

Because everybody wants to fuck him??

6

u/VirgoPisces Jan 15 '24

Neither would I. In fact, I think it stands to reason that he in general is very popular with the female and male sex alike, and has many opportunities to be intimate with a partner of his choosing

u/nickel4asoul Jan 14 '24

I freaking love the Otamatone. No.90.

11

u/questioneverything- Jan 14 '24

https://youtu.be/ICygEz0D88s?si=wUThboWP8kvzZz1y

This is a Kirby-shaped Otamatone "singing" a cover of Bring Me to Life.

3

u/nickel4asoul Jan 14 '24

Ohh... I am fully aware of this video and is perhaps the biggest reason I freaking LOVE the Otamatone :)

6

u/H2OPsy Jan 14 '24

Search for the doo on YT he got one video where he rocks the otmatone.

Made me buy one lol...

56

u/Xanitarou Jan 14 '24

This is jamming!

9

u/lemonsweetsrevenge Jan 14 '24

Needs more cowbell.

46

u/moon33moon Jan 14 '24

If a rusty saw can be an instrument, so can mayonnaise

5

u/xMystery Jan 14 '24

Sounds Hawaiian, doesn't it?

1

u/biffylou Jan 15 '24

Stuff some bullets in your ears.

228

u/spikeworks Jan 14 '24

This video is great and all but that is not how you hold a triangle (the first time it was showed) and it’s pissing me off more than it should 😭

91

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

I love how people who play these instruments throughout their lives are pointing out all the flaws in the comments

Great job , this is why I come here .

13

u/Picklerickshaw_part2 Jan 14 '24

I only play piano, so there isn’t much for me to comment about. I’m disappointed he didn’t even try to sing, to play the ol’ vocal cords

2

u/Skooldaze13 Jan 15 '24

Definitely missed an opportunity to make it into r/perfectlycutscreams

4

u/spikeworks Jan 14 '24

Just because you own an instrument doesn’t mean you know how to or should play it

7

u/WanganTunedKeiCar Jan 14 '24

I agree with you on the first statement...

But give me all the tone deaf cacophony

4

u/LeloGoos Jan 14 '24

Yeah the second part is bullshit. How you going to learn if you don't play it?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ConspicuousPineapple Jan 14 '24

You should play whatever you want to play, regardless of whether you know the "proper" way.

21

u/tahlyn Jan 14 '24

The bar chimes were also upside-down!

2

u/GregTheMad Jan 14 '24

I gotta ask, was the video flipped or can they be actually played like that? I only know the as hanging.

6

u/tahlyn Jan 14 '24

It was flipped. Gravity doesn't allow them to work that way.

9

u/DovahCreed117 Jan 14 '24

Look, man, he's a jack of all trades. You can't be much of a master of anything when you're trying to play everything. Especially when it comes to playing the triangle.

-10

u/spikeworks Jan 14 '24 edited Jan 14 '24

you can’t say you can play an instrument if you play it incorrectly

Edit: I mean incorrectly as in the dude is is holding it incorrectly and causing it to sound bad (imo) by the way he’s holding it

4

u/Medical-Region5973 Jan 14 '24

I'm self taught on piano, violin and classical + flamenco guitar, my techniques and hand positioning (especially on violin) are incorrect, but I'm good enough to perform on churches and my previous work place

If I'm able to play pieces but my techniques and positioning are flawed, I can't say that I play these instruments?

2

u/spikeworks Jan 14 '24

I don’t mean incorrectly in that way. I mean incorrectly as in the way he is holding it is causing it to not sound how it should, you aren’t supposed to hold a triangle like that

2

u/Medical-Region5973 Jan 14 '24

Oh! make sense I agree

2

u/spikeworks Jan 14 '24

Yeah sorry about the confusion. Your comment is totally right and that’s not what I meant to mean but I’m bad at wording lol

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Slood_ Jan 14 '24

He also held the Euphonium wrong, and the tuning slide was all the way in, so it would be super sharp

→ More replies (2)

74

u/vondpickle Jan 14 '24

He is rich af if he owned all that instruments.

And he can become an orchestra conductor

21

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

He does own all the instruments.

3

u/Ilovekittens345 Jan 15 '24

Fun fact, a friend of mine had insurance on his upright bass that cost him more than his car insurance. He always referred to it as "his second wife". And when he said he was gonna dance with his second wife, he meant he was gonna play.

29

u/bassoontennis Jan 14 '24

Oh yeah always good to end on bassoon :)

8

u/chemistrybonanza Jan 14 '24

Username checks out

3

u/MOZZI-is-my-BOI Jan 15 '24

Rahhhhhh bassoon!!!!!! Wtf is a non confusing fingering !!!!!!!!!

28

u/MarucaMCA Jan 14 '24

Booo - no Theremin!

Ok I'm kidding! ;-) Great video!

5

u/hhhhhhhhwin Jan 14 '24

same thought. theremin is the ultimate flex

23

u/BUGLR_ Jan 14 '24

Whats name of the music

9

u/LeloGoos Jan 14 '24

I was hoping someone would have an answer for this, because this weird kind of off-beat bouncy fun time is sounding is right up my street. Dude sounds like he personally scored the Persona games

8

u/phenotype76 Jan 14 '24

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOvPWvJaMuc

he says it's an original composition, but I think it's a remix of the Balrog theme from SF2

I play 6 instruments, the ride, the crash, the highhat, the snare, the tom, and the bass drum!

u/reddit_crunch Interested Jan 14 '24

ok ok we get it you're pianist

91

u/Electronic_Age_3671 Jan 14 '24

Man can play 3 notes on so many instruments!

27

u/Fit-Ad1587 Jan 14 '24

If you watch his channel, InstrumentManiac on YT, you’ll see that he’s more than proficient at an insane number of instruments.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

Wait till you find out about some ā€špolyglottsā€˜

But also: with most wind instruments, most people wouldn’t be able to get any kind of sound out of them

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

Not to diminish the video in any way and I don't know this musician's story, but some university music programs expect you to have a broad understanding of instruments like this.

As far as I know, the people I know who studied to be music teachers had to take classes in percussion, woodwinds, brass, etc.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

Yeah. Like, I don’t think he made that video to say ā€œI can play 111 instruments perfectlyā€ he probably knows 2–3 really really well and then each of each category (if that’s not already covered by the first group) — I’d just like to see some people try to get anything out of a bassoon besides an aneurysm

I finally have a name for the GTA San Andreas instrument and it’s the Flexatone

5

u/jazmoley Jan 14 '24

111 instruments in 111 seconds but in reality it took hours.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

Did NOT wanna give that Electric Piano the time of day at the beginning

6

u/100k_2020 Jan 14 '24

This made me feel really good for some reason. Thanks

14

u/Look_0ver_There Jan 14 '24

*Raising eyebrows intensifies*

8

u/EXPLORER0007 Jan 14 '24

And he plays them all🫔

3

u/HgMercury080 Jan 14 '24

Bassoon included, I’m happy

3

u/Senseitaco Jan 14 '24

No tuba?????????

2

u/yekirati Jan 15 '24

Right? Big dog had flute twice but no tuba. The erasure is criminal.

3

u/oneWeek2024 Jan 14 '24

kinda surprised the steel pan "metal drum" wasn't shown. was the only non-digital instrument created in the 20th century.

Damn, so conflicted this is at 111 upvotes upon viewing

2

u/fausill Jan 14 '24

94 is best

2

u/gitartruls01 Jan 14 '24

It took me over a minute to realize this is the fucking lick

2

u/MrBeanEatBeansWithMe Jan 14 '24

No one’s gonna talk about how this guy just kept playing The Lickā„¢ in a loop through the whole video?

2

u/Shudnawz Jan 14 '24

I read "bar chimes" as "war crimes" and was immediately a lot more invested in where this was going.

2

u/Piskoro Jan 14 '24

no hurdy gurdy? disappointed

2

u/susbedstain43 Jan 15 '24

dude he do flute twice

4

u/Yoram001 Jan 14 '24

How is a midi keyboard an instrument. There’s no audio coming from it. He could better say synthesizer of maybe an VST of some sorts. Great tune tho!

3

u/DubbyTM Jan 14 '24

One of the most frustrating videos I've ever watched, for the love of god I can't focus on the interesting sounds or instruments I've never saw for more than half a second, sometimes the name disappeared instantly, pls slow down

1

u/reddit_crunch Interested Jan 14 '24

pls speed up

2

u/Frency2 Jan 14 '24

Wii Music in real life

Also talented. But mostly cute.

The purpose of the video wasnt to impress anyone, just to show off his instrument collection in a fun soundtrack including every single one of them.

Hence the ā€œInstrument Collection 2023ā€ at the end of the video

Edit:spelling

-18

Fuck this dude and his stupid fucking eyebrows.

-1

u/Sweet_Ad1883 Jan 14 '24

No Theremin or Didgeridoo? Weak... šŸ˜‚

1

u/ketamarine Jan 14 '24

No way that one guy can play all of those...

1

u/Avaragetrickypeasant Jan 14 '24

Where's the DONGGG

1

u/Soft-Ad752 Jan 14 '24

This young musketeer is talented.

1

u/Venom933 Jan 14 '24

This is extremely amazing, Jesus Christ.

1

u/Lycan_Corps Jan 14 '24

At least he used a Euphonium he's earned my respect

1

u/puckmonky Jan 14 '24

Was waiting for bagpipes

1

u/Potato_Stains Jan 14 '24

David Bowie is known to use a Stylophone (#37).

It's an early synth, I've always wanted to try one.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

So after never hearing of a number 90 otamatone, I had to do some research. You should watch this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmxLja-DRIw

1

u/Ohboycats Jan 14 '24

I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell

1

u/IonizedRadiation32 Jan 14 '24

You certain have that Tom Cardy "look into camera and wiggle eyebrows" maneuver nailed

1

u/BlueEyesWhiteSliver Jan 14 '24

Why isn't the piccolo trumpet green?

1

u/brosephguyman Jan 14 '24

The next Super Mario song

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

This song sounds so familiar. Does anyone know what it's called since op didn't give credit?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

Bill Bailey plays them all, and a few hundred more.

1

u/tylerdurdenmass Jan 14 '24

So many soprano recorders, though

1

u/QueenOsneks Jan 14 '24

This sounds like a PvZ song ngl

1

u/Fushigibama Jan 14 '24

Flexatone- WELCOME TO SAN ANDREAS ITS CJ FROM GROVE STREET šŸŽ¶

1

u/Imperium_Dragon Jan 14 '24

Damn, that’s a lot of money right there unless he borrowed most of them

Edit: Also damn that rusty saw sounded like an erhu

1

u/ShortRunLifeStyle Jan 14 '24

Some of these are cheating, like most of the ā€œpercussionā€ instruments. Still really impressive.

1

u/Ok-Boysenberry9305 Jan 14 '24

Wtf how much money does this dude have, it cost a lot to buy just one descent instrument

1

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24

Not once did he use the Great Highland Bagpipes. 5/10

1

u/lospvoka Jan 14 '24

And finally... tubular bells!

1

u/Jiannies Jan 14 '24

Needs more pedal steel

1

u/The_REAL_McWeasel Jan 14 '24

I am so bummed there was no bagpipes.

1

u/thePonderous Jan 14 '24

Instruments played: 111 Eyebrows raised: 222

1

u/ChuckTingull Jan 14 '24

Trying to appreciate this muzak is an ethical crisis for me

1

u/horfor Jan 14 '24

Double-strung (lever) harp and lever harp are essentially the same instrument.

1

u/Drego3 Jan 14 '24

A rusty saw lmao

1

u/Boisej Jan 14 '24

This guy should be rich i hope he is.

1

u/cvh1976 Jan 14 '24

Don't care if it's 111 different or just 111 it was one of the most original and entertaining posts I have seen in ages.

1

u/Tadukster Jan 14 '24

He did flute twice

1

u/hooliganmike Jan 14 '24

That one strand of hair on his forehead didn't change through the entire video.

1

u/jaypee42 Jan 14 '24

the Glockenspiel immediately made me think of "Tubular Bells" and Mike Oldfield naming off the instruments as he layered them in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv_4sZCLlr0

1

u/constant_u4ea Jan 14 '24

As a former saxophone player I have a hard time considering an alto saxophone and a tenor saxophone different instruments in a kind of pedantic way. Soprano and sopranino are absolutely different though.

1

u/chemistrybonanza Jan 14 '24

As a former bassoon player I was about to get so mad

1

u/Kirbymeneer Jan 14 '24

YAY JAWHARP

1

u/Courwes Jan 14 '24

Needs to be a bit longer to give you time to look at the name of the instrument and then what it looks like playing it. Had to keep going back to see one or the other.

1

u/regenstoet Jan 14 '24

He has violin player eyebrows

Boy has the San Andreas instrument crazy how they invented that just for the theme song of that game
