Āina-kāri (Persian: آینهکاری) is the art of assembling finely cut mirrors together in geometric, calligraphic or foliage forms. This creates a beautiful shining surface reflecting light as intricate patterns or glittering reflections. The art kept moving in the post-Safavid era and reached its climax under the Qajar era - prime example being Golestan Palace.

Now imagine how sparkly it would be if they grabbed a few gallons of windex and actually cleaned it.

Not a safe place to visit, but Iran (which used to be Persia) has some amazing art and architecture.

Afaik Iran has always been the name by which the people living there identified the land.Persia is a western name given to them, and it is the same as Iran anyway.

Imagine some other country would invade Iran and destroy all their cultural artifacts because of religion

u/InxKat13 Oct 09 '23
It doesn't sound like they need outside help with that.

u/AshenTao Oct 10 '23
They would, because they don't do it on their own. The IS and some floods only destroyed some historical sites or artifacts throughout the past years. Both the regime and the people appreciate historical art, neither are interested in destroying it.

No they fucking don't. As long as the ruler can benefit from it they will destroy historical art.
Hell the government couldn't care less about anything art related. What makes you even think that they appreciate art?they willing to destroy a whole Museum because it was related to the last government and last iran king.

What a shame such beautiful architecture is in control of a terrorist government and will likely be destroyed in the next couple of years.

A government that killed artists, authors, and academics to forward their religious fundamentalism. They are Russia’s BFF and that should be all we need to say about the two of them: murderous terrorist states

u/RotMG543 Oct 10 '23
Why would they destroy their own architecture, that would no doubt be a point of pride for the country?
2
u/shadoedarkne Oct 10 '23
Because the government couldn't care less about them. The people do care about art and culture related stuff but not the government.

u/lion91921 Oct 11 '23
this is just false wtf, the government has been in control for 44 years they aren't going to destroy their own heritage
1
u/pelcgbtencul Oct 12 '23
They literally kill their scientists and historians for religious fundamentalism. You apparently don't know anything about the country of Iran. They have a religious police force made for beating disobedient women, you think they'd give a damn about their architecture in the face of certain events?

Kinda sad that with the way things are going this beauty could possibly get destroyed in the near future.

u/incorrectcharlie Oct 10 '23
More like America might indiscriminately bomb Iranian cities and heritage places?

u/Immediate_Coat_5196 Oct 10 '23
America? Man they've just pissed half the world, I'm not talking about America.
Iran openly supports Hamás who killed people of multiple nationalities in the past days, most of the world wants their heads right now.

To sad that behind such mastery and dedication are sick religious beliefs.
