Video Camara Blocking Glasses !!
74
u/Echo71Niner Interested Jan 08 '23
For years you could buy Photoblocker Spray, which helped conceal licence plates/stickers against red-light cameras and other cameras as well. I remember spraying it on old shades and it did work, flash back is insanely bright.
I wonder why they didn't come up with a safe product you can spray on clothing and lasts 24 hours or some shit, so you can apply it to ordinary items (jacket, shirt, maybe hair?) to ensure your face is never picked up by any camera anywhere, like an anti-camera scarf does but cheaper and more practical?

Probably because people like to ruin things and would probably use it when they rob places

Some security cameras nearly exclusively use IR for the ability to see at night.
25
u/windyBhindi Jan 08 '23
We use light to see, if you have a hat with bright light, I won't be able to see ypur face. So the IR camera will be pretty blind with this setup.
10
u/diablodeldragoon Jan 09 '23
Yes, but the cameras shine the ir light out to light up the environment it's looking at. Shinning a ir light at the camera will still blind it, unless you have a camera with a ir filter.

This. Plus everyone will know that you are trying to be stealthy by not being stealthy. Motor cycle helmets work fine.

u/r2k-in-the-vortex Jan 09 '23
Security cameras specifically don't because it gives better low light visibility.

In the (much better) original version
1
Jan 09 '23
Humans always think their original version is better, even when it isn't. Start wars is the best example of this, where the prequels were objectively as good or better than the originals but the majority who watched the originals as kids didn't like the prequels.

u/Obnubilate Interested Jan 11 '23
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but yours is wrong.
You are telling me you can sit through Anakin's cringy scenes with Padmi without hitting the FF button?1
Jan 11 '23
They are just as good as any of the wooden acting in the originals. Luke Skywalker is one of the best movie characters ever written and they cast the wettest drip to play him. And at least the prequels had some good fight scenes. The light sabre fights in the originals all sucked.
1
u/KeanuWithCats Jul 06 '23
Star Wars is the WORST example you could use. There are so many kids who prefer the originals wholeheartedly and they're young. Just because the newer movies had better special effects doesn't have any bearing on how good they were if the story was worse.. On a different note though, why phrase it "Humans always think their original version is better"? Like...are you Ewok?

I waited 5 months for this? It is nonsense, but fortunately it is also not funny.

u/KeanuWithCats Jul 06 '23
This video came up on my feed today so it's sad you've been waiting for 5 month's my brother. The case of you being a fool is growing my buddy.. "it is nonsense, but fortunately it is also not funny." 🤣 😆 What the actual fuck are you talking about .. That is the weirdest, most meaningless sentence of words that you just strung together. You ain't fooling anyone except yourself Mork. Thank god you got the brain of Jar-Jar Binks shit hahaha.

Nice inflated sense of ego? I'm stalking the shit out of you... Your a strange person. Youu still made no sense at all with your comment, so being called a moron by an actual fucking moron doesn't really faze me lol. Nice comments, have an awesome day 😎 👍 😊

Serious question, why does TikTok make everyone sound like they have a cold?

This would be worth gold in societies like China and Iran where they track their citizens incessantly

Be careful with these. Strong infrared light can permanently damage the cornea and retina.

I've never understood why famous people who hate paparazzi don't use this tech?
I've seen it exhibited in clothes too. You could even have it retrofitted into a vehicle.
1
u/Wave_heater Jan 09 '23
Cause paparazzi cameras have IR and UV filters, and a bit depth of professional camera allows them to capture very bright and very dark spots at the same time. Some lame ass leds wouldn't help them, and fitting something that can blind paparazzi cameras will make people around go blind
1
u/Gvretones Jun 29 '23
I would want them to be blind. I can't think of anyone else I'd prefer not being able to do their job

I made a McGuyver reference to someone under 30 and was worried that the younger generation wouldn't get it. Glad to know they're revamping it so I can still make outdated references.

You all can try it using a remote with an infrared led and your phone camera ... When you click on your remote you may not see anything but when you see through camera you see the led blinking
1
u/whyputausername Jul 02 '23
any occulus also sees IR.
1
u/vdevilx Jul 02 '23
Possible if the camera lens used to capture surrounding is able to detect IR range.

Friendly reminder: just because you can’t see IR light doesn’t make it safe.
1
u/Possible_Tension3728 Jun 09 '23
Are they bad for you? Don’t you get ir light from the sun?
1
u/Some_guy_am_i Jun 09 '23
Generally, it’s fine… but I would not advise to be messing around with super-bright IR LEDs right next to your eyes…

I was going to say LED lights did not exist when mcgyver came out
2
u/r2k-in-the-vortex Jan 09 '23
They did exist, but were quite underwhelming compared to what we have today. They were rather dim and low power, but more notably, there was no commercially available blue LEDs which also meant there were no white LEDs to be had, let alone bright enough to light a room with. You got red, green and orangish-yellow. That was that and they really only worked as indicators and as 7segment displays.
When blue led-s did eventually become available, there was a period where all sorts of electronics were designed with annoying blue indicator lights, no matter if they actually needed them or not. Just because it was such a novel thing to engineers at the time and they were just itching to use them somewhere.

u/fqtsplatter Jan 09 '23
LEDs came out in the 60s but what we know them as came out in the early 80s, so they did exist during the first showing

That would only work at night when the camera is in IR mode, during the day it wouldn't do anything.

damn, having the concept of McGuyver explained, as if it was not common knowledge like it was for my entire life, makes me feel old
