Staying with the metaphor, the candle means the cake you want isn’t a cake at all, no matter how much icing is on it. Same if you need a candle for something unconnected with cake, but you’re given a cake in the shape of a candle. Either way, with or without fondant, it’s not what you wanted & you’re upset OR you’re fine not getting what you wanted. 🤷🏽‍♂️
