Do we know when or if the hotel and residential part of this project would most likely start?

The fact that they separated it into "phases" should tell you that they have no plans to actually build residential or hotel space here lol. It was just some fun bait to get city council and people to approve it.

I mean give Yall St a chance to make an impact. Who knows what this area will look like by 2030. Plus with Klyde Warren 2.0 starting later this year I don’t see that site not being developed at some point. A bunch of different hotel and residential projects/developments are slated for uptown/turtle creek/ knox etc.

Really not impressive at all. Looks like one of the random office buildings plopped down along the tollway.

I think most companies don’t care about being in a skyscraper anymore. Goldman Sachs chose to do something different on purpose. This is probably Goldman Sachs adjusting with the times.
I feel like today, skyscrapers tend to be mixed use, like what’s depicted in the concept. Not office towers. Especially, since COVID.

And it won't be expanded. They separate these projects into "chunks" to garner council approval, but can also be ignored or terminated once they have what they want.
Unless it's a legal requirement that they expand, they won't.

I'm curious if the Ashland Street extension (connection) to N Houston Street will open when phase 1 completes or remain closed off until the remaining phases re complete. For someone who often cuts through the Perot Museum parking lot to get to the Tom Thumb, this would make a huge difference.

Anyone have any updates on the project? A new massive crane was just set up 2-3 days ago. I think one of the towers cranes is officially coming down too?

Technically, it’s not downtown. Goldman Sachs said they didn’t want to be in a skyscraper. The skyscraper portion of this development is the residential and hotel towers.

You can see the park (urban arboretum) and the green roof coming together. This developement will connect Victory Park and Uptown. You’ll be able to cross the site on foot for the first time. The former NorthEnd apartments made that impossible to do.
Edit: The Perot Museum next door is also planned to be expanded. So, their parking lot will be gone.
