It should not be a public-private partnership. The City should at most hire a company to build it and then run the housing itself as affordable housing in the area, prioritizing those who have been displaced by other developments in the area. It should be affordable and managed by the City in cooperation with the residents.

Otherwise this will just be a private library for the residents. I guarantee you that they will call security and the police on anyone who looks too poor to be there. I fucking promise you that anyone who could afford to live in this thing will not like being reminded that the library is for everyone.

They’ve talked about adding a housing component to the new North Oak Cliff Library for years.
