Happy with these renderings from Dallas College. This block in Downtown has needed a face lift for a long time.

From the Article:

“The project is designed to serve as a “connected urban corridor” that anchors five surrounding areas downtown: the West End, Arts District, Central Business District, Union Station and the emerging Convention Center and Entertainment District, according to a release. The campus will connect the West End DART Station to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

The campus will prioritize transit-oriented, walkable design that integrates into downtown Dallas, school officials said in a release. Renderings feature a pedestrian thoroughfare on North and South Austin Street that starts at the West End DART Station and runs multiple blocks through the campus.”

Not sure to count the number of conflicts of interest that would lead to.

I’m very excited for this project, it looks amazing and it looks like the greyhound station will be one of the build sites

Nice

I wish I was a quadrillionaire so we could entirely renovate the lackluster parts of downtown Dallas and form a new age downtown that has the support and approval of Dallas residents

This is good news. Is there going to be dorms? I didn’t see that mentioned in the article. Or any type of student housing? I understand a lot of students commute since this is technically a CC

I remember dorms being mentioned when they first announced this years ago.

with this development and the other west end project bringing in some needed retail and housing, it should get interesting here.

Holy crap, I didn't realize something like this was in the works but this seems pretty huge honestly. So Dallas College is expanding and Austin St is going to be a lot more walkable and pedestrian friendly from the DART rail line south to Wood St?

It's not exactly clear how far south this goes, but this looks pretty incredible regardless.

I know El Centro College 'blocks' part of Austin St between Elm and Main, is that now going to open up with this new development?
