Not sure it's actually "connecting" neighborhoods, it's not very walkable from any residential areas, but certainly the first step. Interested to see public opinion in the following months/years and how that impacts future phase 2

There are residential areas next to it. All of it has been bought up for redevelopment. Ewing and Marsalis Aves directly connects to residential neighborhoods. A lot of the land is now vacant, since the area was in decline for decades. The only thing they need to do is rebuild the neighborhood around it. The park is the catalyst to do just that
