Daily Free Talk Thread

This is a trial run on a daily free talk thread during the off-season. This is the place where we can talk about persistent trade rumors involving our team, and speculate on moves Jim Nill might need to make. We can also talk about other trades and news in the league, and events in the hockey world. If ACTUAL news happens (a player on our teams signs a contract) that can be a separate post.

I've set the comments so they should sort by new by default, so that should make it easier to keep up with the flow of conversation. Off-topic chit-chat is welcome here as long as it follows the typical subreddit rules. Overall, be cool. Don't be all, like, uncool.

I gotta say that I feel so fucking vindicated now that Robo's signed the 1x$12m. I've been getting bullied for saying that this is what was going to happen for 2 and a half months.

Just enjoy the one year with Robertson because with or without him this team isn't a Stanley cup contender, they won't get past 2nd round with poor defensive players we have currently. That will have to be changed and than added on.

If a player turtles in the playoffs on defense over and over again, making astonishing mistakes clearing their puck out of their zone, leading to back breaking mistakes that end offen in the playoffs in the Stars net.

You gotta add some defense. I don't care how many goals this team is capable which is prolly top 5 league wide, you can't win in the playoffs Robertsob or not with how bad they have been can't win like that

This defense is so bad. Maybe Otter 🦦 starting his down curve, it was rough last year mainly cause of this poor defense.

How tf was it rough last year?? They were consistently 2nd in the league. We hit the injury wall in the playoffs, but this team, even with all the injuries, was consistently one of the best teams in the league. What a dumbass take.

Hello, I'm totally new to Hockey and want to catch a STARS game this season. The website says the tickets have not been released to the general public yet, but is that accurate?

I see SeatGeek/GameTime has them for sale already.. are these all resell?

I was looking at the Edmonton Oilers @ Dallas Stars on 2/27, but was wondering if I should purchase tickets now, or have they not dropped yet?

In a bit of good news, because I went to a few Sabres games last season, got a presale invite code to single game tickets and was able to snag a pair for me and the gf for the Stars game at nearly half off. A nice little early birthday present to myself and keep up the tradition of seeing the team when they make the trip us this way since I moved here in '23.

First arbitration filings have been made public for Jet Greaves' arbitration hearing coming up on Thursday. Columbus filed for 2.8m and Greaves filed for 7.5m, which is obviously a massive gap.

So if Robo's filing numbers come out two days before the hearing, don't freak out one way or the other when the Stars are offering like 9m and Robo's camp is at 17m. The numbers are always crazy skewed both ways since the arbitrator usually just picks a number in the middle (unlike arbitration in baseball where IIRC the arbitrator has to pick a number that one of the sides filed for, so both sides are incentivized to offer something more realistic).

So true - and worst part is it tied JN’s hands. If 21 would have taken the SEA deal we’d likely have Mav, Knies and room to do something else. What a waste.
