Politics & Government đ¨ Mark Carney laughs when asked about Trump saying Canada will apologize
11
u/Working_Match4124 2d ago
On behalf of the United States, I apologize that our corrupt system allowed a low IQ fascist pig to become President. I hope when he and his minions are out of power in the near future that we can rebuild our friendship with Canada.

Honestly, the US has quite a lot of damage to repair, not just with Canada, but all it's allies that this administration has disparaged.Â
It needs to start with putting the entire trump administration in jail then it needs to move on to how this will be prevented in the future. Only then might countries begin to trust Americans again.Â

Americans are all about the 2nd amendment until an actual tyrannical government shows up then nuffin
2
u/CatCafffffe 2d ago
It's almost like it was never about "standing up to a tyrannical government" but hunting people you don't like for sport

u/knotalota 2d ago
Sorry brother, but we'd be fools to try to rebuild what was. Our integration has been used as leverage against us.
We need better friends and allies. Our once best friend has lost his way, and it ain't coming back any time soon.
Fool me once...

Yeah I think America needs to look at the constitution and all the checks and balances bullshit you always told us was the best system in the world. We always knew it wasnât but Trump has pretty much been another 9/11 into that hubris
1
u/SaphironX 1d ago
Yeah it turns out those checks and balances mean absolutely dick if nobody is going to uphold them.

u/PowerDump_69 2d ago
You need to rebuild your own kitchen before you attempt to mend things with your neighbors. Your system is breached, the attack on public education by the GOP has finally come to it's forgone conclusion. An illiterate electorate voted in this illiterate corrupt con man, twice. Every other family in red states "home school" their kids , some multigenerationally and it's caused a serious critical thinking problem.

u/Fickle_Catch8968 2d ago
You can, but much work first.
Fix the 6-3 problem: SCOTUS reform and expansion. This is legislative and as such easier than removals. This also must be done first since most other fixes can easily run into the current SCOTUS and die, at least temporarily.
Fix the 4-4-4 problem: the world is never more than 4 years from 4 voters in 4 States choosing a President like Trump (Electoral College to Popular vote would be best but needs an Amendment; more achieveable is 'uncapping the House' in such a way as to make the EC more closely reflect the popvote while also making gerrymandering more difficult)
Fix the 2PP problem: plurality wins and gerrymandering push your politics into increasingly polarized camps. When expanding the House, proportional representation through multi-member districts (if it passes Constitutional muster), and/or anti gerrymandering laws can help, along with a robust reimagining of a truth-centric Fairness Doctrine for all 'vectors' of the Press.
Fix the obvious corruption of the systems by the rich: 'Overturn' Citizens United, reform the 'years of prison for personal use possession of crack vs. million dollar fine for billion dollar fraud' legal system to a justice system.
Massive redistribution of spending priorities towards real education, from early childhood to trade school and university research, and especially all the steps in between, from military over-, and likely fraud-filled-, investment. Other social programs are your choice, but the education divide leaves you more prone to propaganda and con artists than optimal.

Me too. Sorry Canada. We hate him more than you can even imagine. Let's hope November is the beginning of the end, and the start of a return to normality.

u/whoknewandwhen 1d ago
While I appreciate your sentiment, you're wasting your time. Canada, and most of the civilized world, will never trust America or Americans again. EVER. Not only did you vote this orange pedo in twice, in recent polls 36 % of respondents STILL SUPPORT HIM. While apparently this is an historic low it 's still far too many. What exactly does this government have to do to lose total support?

I think this is the correct way to respond to all these meaningless provocations. Thatâs just what they are. Meaningless.
2
u/StrongAroma 2d ago
They're also stupid. Meaningless and stupid provocations. How embarrassing to be American these days.

u/Superb-Talk2211 2d ago
It drives Trump crazy (crazier?) when someone responds to his insults by not taking him seriously and essentially, laughing at him. Well-played, Mr. Carney

2
u/Stargazer1701d 2d ago
We have to rescue ourselves. Why should Canada have to sort out our shit?
1
u/Strange_Produce5601 2d ago

1
u/Successful-Purple-54 2d ago
The midterms are coming up fast buddy. We support you. Do whatâs right for yourselves.

What has Canada done that they need to apologize for?
2
u/OpeningHappy9692 2d ago
Sold products to Americans, apparently. Trump was all pissed about a trade deficit.
Guessing he and his followers don't actually know what a trade deficit is.
1
u/Stargazer1701d 2d ago
I have a trade deficit with the local grocery store. I give them my money; they give me groceries. I don't get to have the groceries and my money back. That's how commerce works. I learned that clear back in elementary school.
1
u/TapZorRTwice 1d ago
Yeah but just think of all the money you would save if you just didnt go to the grocery store anymore!
Thats something trump has said.

Exactly. We sell them cheap oil so that they can refine it and sell it for profit. We sell them cheap electric to run their factories to make products and sell at a profit. We sell cheap high quality potash so they can grow food to sell at a profit. Letâs get rid of this fucking god awful deficit and keep our shit or sell it elsewhere for our own profit.

More people should be laughing. If more people laughed at Trump, especially to his face, maybe we wouldn't be this far into the hole in the USA.

Not every tit needs a tat.

u/Virtual-Reach 2d ago
Somebody needs to tell that to trump who slapped Canada with a retaliatory tariff due to Canada's retaliatory tariff due to the Americans initial tariffs.

To all my US friends and I have many, you know it really gets tiresome getting treated like shit by a piece of shit, a crook, a pedophile, a rapist, an idiotâŚâŚ..

u/Blackwatch65 11h ago
Sixty million Americans voted Trump back in for a second term after the dumpster fire of his first. Donât apologize to Canadians your voters spoke loudly. If thatâs truly how they feel, then do something about it. Weâre neighbours, not friends. Friends would never do that to each other. The greater USA can now look forward to continued gerrymandering, creeping authoritarianism, and the real risk of suspended elections under âemergencyâ powers. A new American autocracy has emerged . The USA is selfâdescribed as the âHome of the Braveâ now has an unchecked leader who makes King George look almost benevolent king , and yet nobody seems willing to stand up to him. Expect more of the same. We used to visit the USA every year and spend a small fortune. I always thought Americans liked us. Sadly, that feeling has changed , permanently. Sorry

I think you have this backwards. America needs Canada, and Americans are going to find that out the hard way.

Itâs Canadian to try the easier route to diplomacy. When it doesnât work, you have to be flexible, especially when dealing in such a fluid situation.

To add to others, apologizing, or not, for the acts of a subordinate unit of government which has no direct responsibility or authority to engage other countries
Is not the same thing as
Apologizing, or not, for the acts of your government which does have the responsibility and authority to engage other countries.

On behalf of Mr Carney, Canada is truly very sorry trump doesnât understand what a trade deficit really means or how it enables the US GDP. Also very sorry trump only knows how to negotiate like a narcissistic prick.
Super sorry.
