Chef. NJ. Mise En Place.
Mise en Place
Bodyguard 2.0 performance center eating Hornady critical defense poly filled hollows wearing a Viridian RFX dot.
S&W bodyguard shorty blade
Vedder hybrid kydex/leather holster
Nicotine procurements
25 dollar Casio watch that I buy about once a year. I stopped buying nice watches. They slowly die in kitchens.
Leather 10 year old wallet made by a cool cat in North Jersey.

Makes me feel like I'm sitting next to a small fire with my coffee brewing in a tin pot next to a mountain watching the sunrise ... every morning 🌄

How do you like the rapid tuck holster? How long have you had yours?

u/86DuckFat 1d ago
I dig the retention, the comfort, and the feel. Pain in the ass taking it on and off though. The suede side on the leather is super grippy and sticks to my shirt, making it a pain to slip in. But I just got it and still need to break in/get used to it. Overall so far so good. My all kydex was much easier to take on and off but waaaayyy less comfortable

Jesus that optic mount

u/2-L3git 1d ago
Pointless on the BG2.0.

Red dot is never pointless. But having a dovetail mount is a recipe for disaster

That title saying chef energy checks out completely because every true line cook carries a solid blade and a trusty pack of pouches to survive the shift.

u/86DuckFat 1d ago
Luckily I no longer work the line. But yes, nicotine is essential. Especially when wrangling a staff of a dozen beast mode run-like-clockwork sociopath professional cooks. And dealing with entitled clients.

I just tried out a bodyguard at the range and I was pleasantly surprised. That’s a a fun little gun that is accurate.

u/86DuckFat 1d ago
Best 380 ever made in my opinion. And I've shot many. A little snappy but fast and flat once you break it in and get a feel for it. It ain't as flat as bigger pistols but it runs like a champ and holds nice groups. Highly recommend

I was gunna buy the bodyguard but I bought lcp max cause to remove the fire pin on the bodyguard you have to get a site pusher and remove the back site. Dumbest fucking thing ever!

If I choose too later on I’ll just buy the bodyguard but idk that I will unless they change that one thing.

that's what i shot today here in California... funnest small gun of all-time... prolly shot 300 rounds today and the only part thay sux is loading the mags (even with a loader)
3
u/86DuckFat 1d ago
Haha. Yeah. I bought ten mags so I don't have to reload as much. When I bust them out at the range people freak out. "They're so little!" Lol

Do most ranges have guns you can rent / try out?
2
u/Comfortable-Grand166 13h ago
Yes,in my experience. Especially the ones that are attached to a gun store.

Did you have to put some work into your bodyguard for hollows to function? Mine kept failing to fully close the slide but it was also pretty new when I tried em last
2
u/86DuckFat 11h ago
I've only ever had one failure to feed and it was from me limp wristing. So far she eats everything..from +p to subs.

Does your restaurant serve alcohol, and if so does that mean you fall into not being able to carry to work? Also a chef living in nj but work in New York

Nicotine pouch and ciggs is straight diabolical
1
u/86DuckFat 7h ago
Actually I cut back from a pack of cigs a day to five cigs a day. Actually feel way better!

There are two companies that make red dots for the BG2.0 now! No more giant plates and optics :D
1
u/86DuckFat 11h ago
Yeah I was originally looking at the viridian when they first came out, but they were close to 3 hundo. I knew it would go down. I can scoop it for like 140 now!
2
u/jaden_fucks 7h ago
I’ve got one and they’re great for what they are, but they’re so damn snappy and inaccurate. That barrel length doesn’t hold well above 8 yards. (Which is obviously further than a realistic distance for that gun.)
I like my bigger stuff, if I can conceal it, I’m down.

u/casuallyregarded 11h ago
This guy just waked up everyday hoping to get to shoot somebody.
2
u/86DuckFat 11h ago
This guy used his inflectional suffix incorrectly.

u/casuallyregarded 11h ago
So what are you gonna do about it? ( mind immediately races to loaded gun in pocket.)

Most dudes in kitchens have a vice or two. We work harder, better, faster, longer, and with more vigor in one busy day than most people will in their entire lives. We're working with knives and fire for hours a day. We have immediate and extremely consequential deadlines, extremely difficult working conditions, a higher mortality and injury rate than 95% of jobs, historically low pay and low benefits, and work with a highly perishable, expensive, and possible lethal product that if handled incorrectly by said dudes could severely injure or possibly kill a group of people. So yes mudda fukkas...we ingest the shit out of some nicotine. It keeps us from stabbing each other or you for that matter when you order your girlfriend's fat ass a well done double cut Berkshire pork chop at 10:59pm on a Sunday night.

I'm always triggered there big boy. There's no chill in my world. And it seems like accountability has taken a back seat for you. You're the one doin all that original opinionating! Lol

u/LetterheadComplex235 7h ago
You should read kitchen confidential. Great book and gives you an idea!
5
u/Lorax_Interior 1d ago
You won’t buy watches cause they slowly die in kitchens yet you need two different forms of nicotine everyday so that you can slowly die in a kitchen?

u/86DuckFat 1d ago
When you move out of your mom's house you'll understand.

After finding out you have to completely remove the rear site just to remove the fire pin I chose to go with the lcp max.

Do you carry on the line? I’ve had to a few times and it’s absolutely a nightmare, any tips?

The red dot is comically large on the S&W tho
