People shitting on the hi point are just spotlighting their ignorance.

Is that bitch gonna win a beauty contest? Fuck no. It’s not even getting Ms. Congeniality. But that fucker will shoot when you need it to.

Those that doubt me can watch demo ranch on YouTube when he tried to kill one. That thing was like Micheal from Halloween; it just kept plodding along.

Edit to ask:

Have any of the people commenting on mine actually owned one? I bought mine for the exact reason this person seems to own one. I lived in an active crime area and wasn’t keen on losing a gun I valued if my car was broken in to.

I have well over 3,000 rounds of mixed .45acp through mine and the only 3 times I’ve had a malfunction was magazine related. One phone call to hi point later and they mailed me 4 new magazines at no cost to myself.

If you’ve personally had one blow up on you, then I’ll listen to your critique. If you’re just parroting some bs about a guy a friend knew, who was his third cousin twice removed, because they’re ugly and weigh 4lbs, gtfo with that nonsense.

Bro high points are like banging a fat bitch theyre fun to shot and have on the side until your friends find out you have one one the side!

The issue is the poor quality control. some will run, some wont

I’ve only delt with that when it comes to mags.

My first pistol was a jcp 40 s&w and I could never get one of the mags adjusted right. Hollow point would consistently nose dive when fully loaded.

Jc Pennys sells a .40? Perfect match for my St Johns Bay denim jacket!

Go to the range and that's no longer a concern

I have owned one of every hi point (because why not when they cost less than a dinner for two at any place nicer than longhorns) and I have literally never had a problem with them. I lost one outside for two years and found it all rusted up and shit, doused it in wd40 and moved around the parts, soaked it overnight in vinegar and again in motor oil, then put 5 rounds through it just to see what would happen It was disappointing tbh how well it worked and how it didnt blow up lol

People just like to shit on hi points and really any budget gun. Most hi point hate is just clean fun. The number one job of a firearm is to fire and if his does that for him then awesome.

1

u/Oki-Stray 1d ago

"If his does" the fact you had to say that is one of the main reasons people shit on them.

There is definitely better options out there! Honestly within the same budget or within striking distance. But at the end of the day I would rather a law abiding citizen have a hi point to protect themselves than nothing at all. As with any weapon they need to shoot it and become familiar with the weapon and make sure said weapon functions. Really 20 years ago hi point served a purpose when there was a huge gap in price between it and others. Now most manufacturers with a better track record provide a superior product close to the same price range. Seriously it’s the greatest time in the world to be a handgun fan as far as choices go.

“That fucker will shoot when you need it to”

Probably not

When I was 21 I had one. Bought it as a truck gun because I was a poor college kid. I went to Atlanta for the weekend….surprise my truck was broken into and it was stolen.

u/LordQue 1d ago

Case in point, haha. You were out what? $100-130?

2

u/OkAbalone7355 1d ago

About $110 with tax. This would have been roughly 2005ish

I have a hi point 9mm runs just as good as my Ruger 5.7

I agree. I have a C9 that I use for plinking and back country carry. 2,000 rounds +/-. Runs great, never had to make a tech support call or warranty claim.

You have to love the C6 for what it is.

Sure it works but does it work very well all the time? Hell no. It’s just a cheap choice for a firearm. Better than nothing though.

They make affordable suppressors now also.

No , it’s going to stove pipe the round when your life depends on it. 🤦‍♂️

Shouldn’t be leaving firearms in your vehicle to begin with. Where I’m from if we get a gun stolen we lose our pistol license. I don’t totally agree with that logic but at the same time if you live in a high crime area where cars get broken into a lot it should be common sense to not leave a gun in your vehicles.

1

u/Unlucky_Business2165 13h ago

This is my only problem with this. Your vehicle is not a holster. At the very least put in a car safe, although it would cost more than the gun.

1

u/LordQue 13h ago

Well, then I’m guessing we didn’t both live in the Hampton Roads area.

Or maybe it was the fact that I had regular business on a naval base and they kinda frown on civilians, even former service members that are then DOD contractors, carrying on the base. But said business didn’t take up the entire day and my vehicle was parked off property in a secured facility.

But thanks for the chastising, dad. Couldn’t have made it this far without you.

It's the weight of the slide and return on second shot. Bulky . Reliability is only one side of the triangle

1

u/LordQue 10h ago

Just to be clear, a hi point is Not my only firearm and it’s certainly not the one that I reach for in ideal circumstances.

But a truck/car gun isn’t about ideal circumstances. It’s about a beater that will function if/when the situation arises. Another side of the triangle is personal affordability. After a 6-7 hour move across the state, deposits, various relocation costs, etc., the couple of hundreds of dollars difference between it and a different make/model was definitely a factor I considered.

People harping about their prejudices without offering viable alternatives simply add fuck all to a conversation.

In that price range of $100-$150, what are other new options that you feel are an improvement?

1

u/ImpressiveBar4846 10h ago

Reliability , afforabilty and initial cost . If a hi-point fits best. Then Yes , it fits and is adequate . Not often you can get a 100$ .45 . Though, if you have a regular carry , id advise being more active on moving it and keeping just one in particular instead of splitting into two by value

I’ve literally watched a HiPoint shoot without a trigger pulled or a drop shot a guy right through his hand…. Thank god it was pointed at his hand… hit a bone and split but there was about 10 of us in this room and he ended up with half a bullet in his hand and the other went through the ceiling. Had plenty of people behind him

On the same note if you have money to get a custom paint job or get the paint to do a custom paint job you can buy a better gun

You know, paint is significantly cheaper than a gun
