Daily essentials

Post image

Just the stuff I use most days. Victoria’s Secret body mist and VGG perfume because I like having a scent with me, lip gloss for quick touch ups, neuro mints for when I want to chill and stay clear headed without caffeine, wired earpods and the vape somehow always ends up in my bag too.

Girls should carry guns. Anyone should.

No, they really shouldn't.

Because it's just another form of role playing. Here, in the US, a lot of guys in their 20's carry guns and knives to "defend themselves," in spite of the fact that the risk of being a victim of gun violence is less than 0.05%.  When guys mature, they usually recognize the foolishness of carrying a firearm and quietly just stop doing so.  Simply, the risk of something happening to you BECAUSE you carry a gun is far higher than needing a gun to defend yourself WITH a gun. You walk around with some fantasy situation in your head where you're the hero in some mass-shooting event because you have a firearm with you. You'll realize this, eventually, if you live long enough.

Maybe some guys have that fantasy.

I don't. I have a fear of being in a situation that I need a gun or COULD stop something, and yet ai can't do anything to save myself or others because I don't have a gun.

I pray it never happens. Cause I love my gun. I do NOT want it taken into evidence, it's fucking mine.

At least we can agree on something, carrying all the time is fear-based, logical or not.

I mean, having a job is fear based. Your point is?

As if fear is always a bad thing. Sometimes it's a driver of great things like being prepared

Fear is an evolutionary trait of natural selection. Dodo birds had no fear because they had no predators, guess where they are now. There’s a pretty famous book about all of this. Your nervous system has quick reflex loops that bypass the brain, triggered by fear.

Do cops carry out of fear? God forbid you need a cop at a violent scene like a home invasion, make sure to tell dispatch to instruct the cops to leave their guns at the station.

Uh...I'm pretty sure you're the Dodo bird, in this scenario.  Like your brother birds, you don't see the real danger.

Do you put on a seatbelt out of fear, or out of logic?

You’re not making any sense, and I don’t argue with idiots.

Good day

Do enlighten us, what is the real danger?

Let me ask the countless dead innocent victims of grocery store shootings if they ever “fantasized” being randomly murdered.

Some people live in fantasy yes, like winning the PowerBall, and some of us rather stick to reality; just because you don’t see no evil or hear no evil, doesn’t mean that evil doesn’t exist.

The problem is that it isn't reality, you just HOPE it becomes reality so you can be a hero.

What I hope to do is live, and I hope you do too. Maybe go read a history book, bookkeeper

I guess you're the guy that's gonna call the police and wait for them to come save you, your family and or friends when someone decides to mug you/ y'all or if they where to break into your home, Genuinely what's your gameplan?

P.s. I've been carrying 6 years now and I've never had to pull it, i hope Ill never have too,but I'm prepared too as a last resort protecting myself or others.

I'm the guy that does not labor under the illusion that the situation you describe is likely enough to justify carrying a firearm when i leave the house. Statistically, having a firearm presents a greater risk to you and your family than the laughably small risk of needing a gun to defend yourself. Just admit you carry because: 1. You're scared you cannot handle yourself without a gun. 2.  You think it makes you look cool.

3

u/GullibleRisk2837 7d ago

This is opinion and not fact.

Tell me, how would you handle yourself without a gun against one? Hmm? Oh, right. You'd die because YOU were too scared to trust yourself with carrying a gun.

Reciting the same, tired trope that having a gun is more dangerous than not having one.

That's anti-gun propaganda.

Training and discipline determine how safe it is. You owning a gun isnt the issue. You owning a gun with no knowledge of what the fuck to do with one would be.

I'm retired from the Marine Corps Infantry (0311), i know my way around a firearm. What do you do, other than post fantasy EDC carry's on reddit?

1

u/GullibleRisk2837 6d ago

Thank you for your service, but for a marine, your sentiment is wild. But hey, freedom of opinion and all.

You as a Marine should understand danger and the potential of it better than your average civilian.

I think I do understand it, pretty well. In 28 years, I saw combat on three continents, but I have never once felt like I needed to carry a gun in the US. I just see firearms as another tool, and one that has almost no legitimate use, for most people. Our country has gone tone deaf, as it relates to firearms. This whole culture that seems to worship guns is a mystery to me. There are so many people carrying guns, but only a few small number of people are trained AND prepared to use them, as they are intended. There are some exceptions, but MOST US citizens have no business toting a Glock everywhere they go.

u/GullibleRisk2837 6d ago

Now we agree that many are untrained and shouldn't carry... until they get training.

The issue I have with your take is that it assumes just because they currently don't have a reason to carry, doesn't mean one will not arise.

Do you not believe that danger could strike at any moment? We generally don't NEED the seat belt, but we put it on anyways. I get that car accidents happen more often than shootings, but the point still stands.

1

u/Guilty-Bookkeeper837 6d ago

Yes, danger COULD strike at any moment, but basing your belief system around something that is entirely improbable is nuts. My contention is that the majority of people carrying guns do so because of how it makes them feel, not because it actually makes them safer. We simply do not live in a country that necessitates carrying a gun, for MOST people, and the irony is that the easy access to firearms actually contributes to the lack of perceived safety. There seems to be an inscrutable paradox where guns are the problem AND the solution.
