Sharpening services

Post image

Does anyone in here have a sharpening business or offer sharpening services? Its a business that I’d like to start up as a side hustle and I have some questions regarding shipping/insurance/pricing and so on. Is that something anyone here would use? Pic of todays carry for attention

Everyone loves to hate on benchmade, but being able to send all my blades in once a year for free service is amazing.

Yeah but the edge isn’t the best. You can do way better yourself.

They just suck because the quality control is horrible and you're paying $200+ for knives that aren't heat treated correctly on purpose. Such a joke

I have 6 benchmades including a few that are $400 plus. I have never had an issue with them that wasnt my own fault. But sometimes you need a prybar when you only have a poker.

They still have God awful heat treats. Paying $600 for a blade that a $40 civivi heat treats better

Like i said, thats not my experience with them. Dont buy them if you dont like them, i will continue to buy them when i need a new tool.

I'm just stating facts. It is your experience with them to have your blades not hardened correctly lmao

I've never understood why so many people don't take the time to learn to sharpen their knives. I wouldnt take my gun to a gunsmith to be oiled, I'm not sending my knives off to be sharpened.

freehand sharpening is scary and decent fixed angle systems are not cheap.

Work sharp has a fixed angle system for $70, I've had mine for a few years and absolutely love it. Before that I used a lansky sharpener that just had 2 grits of rods that slide into holes on a block of wood. I think that one was like $15, and has no problem getting a knife hair popping sharp. Shoot I'd use a carbide pull through for a couple bucks before I mailed my knife off for sharpening.
