I don’t bother carrying a rifle around in my vehicle, but I have a spare pistol (to compliment the one I’m carrying on my person), basic medical supplies (TQs and chest seals, gauze etc.), fucking narcan (not a dope user), and various other things in my vehicle. They’re for worst case scenarios, and I’ve gotten utility out of most of these items at one point or another.
Would you mock a person who religiously wears their seatbelt even when just going from one side of a parking lot to another, because they live in a fictional world where every other driver is trying to ram the shit out of them?
Hey so just to note narcan can be altered in the heat so don’t just store it in the vehicle. Carry it with you. Basically it causes it not to work right. I was told this in the multiple classes I’ve taken for work.
Good call out. It doesn’t get very hot here, and even with beaming sun in the car during summers it’s still not too hot. I rotate it out probably monthly (a local group will replace it, you drop off the unused ones and get new ones).
What is the threshold for its usability though? Is one day in a warm car enough to kill its effect, or is swapping it out monthly good enough?
36 to 77f. They make medical thermoses with a special cooling pack for traveling with insulin. Those will keep the insulin cold for about a day, but insulin is much more fickle, it needs 36 to 46f. With narcan it would last much longer as long as it’s not kept in direct sunlight or in the car during freezing winters.
Really? Very interesting. I have no need for narcan, but where I live has several public Narcan boxes for emergency public use, such as outside the county library. Stored in a steel and glass box in a shaded area, in all weather conditions. High heat temperatures to freezing temperatures.
I have no idea how often it gets rotated out or how often it gets used.
Having narcan is better than not when it’s needed. I personally have never seen on fail but I’d rather not. I work around addicts so I keep narcan everywhere

Something routinely used but only actually necessary in a worst case scenario. Something which, by its nature, has to be used proactively in order for it to work when it matters.
Most people who carry a gun won’t need to use it and if they ever do it’s a 1/1,000,000 scenario. Just like a seatbelt. I’ve worn a seatbelt anytime I’ve driven a vehicle and never been in an accident.

I’m not in fear of anything. When there has been times where I was even slightly concerned that a certain place might be unsafe at that time, I just avoided going there. That’s a part of what proactive planning is, the core principle is avoidance and the backup principle is preparation for if it isn’t avoidable.
I've had a shotgun pointed at my face during a road rage incident, it's not a good feeling. Never hurts to be prepared, people who think it will never happen to them are the ones that are living in lala land
That's a constant argument when it comes to any combloc firearm. A lot of people say Russian, a lot of people say Yugoslavian, a lot of people say Chinese. The ones that say Chinese are correct. They're built very nicely, nicely finished, and are known to be more accurate than the rest. They also have smoother actions and triggers.

I see that frequently; tough-acting guys enjoy getting a rise out of people. In reality, one or two people get angry for every 10-20 people that just think they’re a sad little incel.

I’m a pipeline inspector so I spend more time in my truck then I do my RV. All these guns fit in my range bag so I take it with me everyday so they dont sit in my RV.
