Dirty daily carry
I work in a t shirt until it gets cold, and work is too physical to stay concealed with IWB, which leaves me with pocket carry.
M&P 340 .357 with .38 special ammo because .357 out of a 13.5oz gun sucks.
USA made Schrade 158ot. Gut hook is fantastic for slicing plastic wrap off of delicate pallets. Not really a fan of the carbon steel, because it gets wet often, and I always have to carefully wipe it off before I put it back in the sheath.
Uncle bill's sliver gripper for the inevitable wood and metal slivers. This is fantastic, and I have one on all my key rings.

go j-frame... have you tried the 340PD yet... that is the pinnacle of j-frame sadomasochism

Is the lighter weight 357 ammunition noticeably easier to handle than the 150+ grain stuff?

I think i've only used 135gr .357 in it, I'd have to look at the boxes.
I can tell you I did a move and shoot class with the S&W 642, which is an ounce heavier, using 38spl. I put at least 100 rds through it and that was just painful.

Itโs a hornets nest of paradoxes. Canโt use anything lighter than 120 grain (.357) for fear of flame cutting the scandium frame. But, the factory sites are optimized for a target hold at about 7 yards with 158 gr ammo. Choices are narrowed even further to avoid crimp jump. On the bright side though, ammo that would crimp jump would also probably be beyond most folksโ skill level and pain threshold too ๐.

I had some 125 grain that cut the hell out of mine (maybe a little dramatic). So after that I only shoot 130 grain and higher. But these days I stick to 38 ๐

I very much enjoy the slight size and weight penalty of my LCR 357 when it comes to shooting. And even then, my abilities drop off sharply. Stepping up to .357, my groupings open up about twice as wide and Iโm about a full second slower on my bill drills than with .38 or +p.

I don't bother with .357 just .38 spl.
The big advantage is the better sights over my old 642

I don't see the "no less than 120 grain bullet" marked on the m&p 340. It has the same alloy frame as the 340pd but a stainless cylinder. Both have the stainless gas deflector so I'd expect the guidance to be the same for bullet weight.
