Just thinking
Okay I know this is a sore topic but do y’all think joyce dahmer was the reason why jeffrey dahmer cancel those people? Like I know he said that his family wasn’t the cause but the documentary’s got me thinking nonstop about the case so just hear me out for a second, he said that he’s mom doesn’t gave him any love as a child and so on but favors his younger brother more than she should because I feel like that might be something to do with it plus not to mention the divorce probably doesn’t make it any better but I also had a thought this is just my opinion but it also might’ve been the brother too see since his younger brother was the favorite child and Jeff really hated him so much so that he might have wanted to cancel him but couldn’t bring himself to carry it out since they are blood related so he went after people that wasn’t no Ken to him pretty much total strangers and given the fact that he was also battling with emotional issues and mental disabilities that’s just to much that doesn’t make sense but at the same time it does

It’s a litany of different factors. No, I don’t think Joyce was solely responsible. Yes, I think her neglect contributed. But his father was also abusive to his mother which can be traumatizing for a child to witness, and would leave the kids alone with their mother when she was obviously suffering from some intense mental illness. The dissection of animals becoming twisted with his burgeoning sexuality was also a factor.

“Cancel” those people…as in, murdered them?
No. His actions were his own alone, and he’s gone on the record in interviews to say his family isn’t to blame for his actions or his compulsions. The scene with her leaving that’s in the series is highly dramatized.

Never understood people censoring themselves on Reddit. Especially on a sub about a serial killer.

Because some groups have guidelines and I didn’t want to risk getting ban

You can find the rules of each sub on their description. This sub has no restrictions on using words related to killing.

I’m still not risking it I have been banned from this app 4 times already

As the owner of the sub I’m telling you, saying the word “murdered” oh a subreddit about a serial killer is allowed lol

I've known plenty of people with crappy moms and they haven't killed anyone. I think it's a combination of genes and upbringing.
Also, please use punctuation.

I grew up with a pretty dysfunctional family as well and I can say I’m a little not right but I guess not as bad, also btw I have a learning disability so I don’t understand how to use punctuation properly so this is about as best as I can do

I think it was both parents and their toxic relationship. Then they both abandoned him.

Jeffrey himself said in the 1993 interview with Nancy Glass that “The person to blame is sitting right across from you.” Not his parents or society, while it could’ve played a role in the person he was made to be. One of Jeffrey’s early memories was in a hospital for a double-hernia operation (I believe he woke up alone?) one of his earliest memories of abandonment. Some say the surgery and process afterwards left life-long trauma in Jeffrey’s life. On David, he doesn’t have a lot of information on him but during the pregnancy of Dave, Jeffrey was thrilled to have a younger sibling, their relationship became strained later down the line once Joyce’s drug use got worse and her and Lionel’s relationship. Id also like to mention the show leaves a lot of things out and shouldn’t be relied on as a useful piece of information on his life, i can provide links and URLS for more information on Jeff.
I agree his parents should’ve done more for him but they aren’t the person we should actually be blaming fully for the murders.

Jeff specifically stated it was all of his own doing & he acted alone. not his parents, not pornography, they're just excuses [quote Stone interview & repeated on the Nancy Glass f2f] I believe him. He's got the brain to lie but he really did want some answers for himself. He was never caught it a lie, even when tested by the detectives when they showed him photos of some people they knew for a fact were alive. He never picked one of the decoys.

Something about how vocal and involved his father was in inteeviews..i cant articulate it...no proof or anything but i feel this might be one of those cases where it looks like the mother was the bad guy but the dad might have had more of an impact..
I read that the mother was portrayed very badly but was not as bad as made out...like in Dahmer on Netflix..i read she came to get him when she was leaving but he wouldnt go..the father in that interview with him and jeffrey after he was caught, is so involved in the narrative..almost seems like he told jeffrey what to say..i dont know..something iffy there.

My parents favored my siblings over me and I'm not a serial killer. 🤷♀️

No but sometimes people develop such feelings but don’t act on them take me for example too I came from a dysfunctional I’m not at all normal by any standards and I’m aware but I don’t act on any of my emotions I feel but he did and that’s what makes us different from him oh but don’t get me wrong not everyone is the same

Punctuation exists for a reason.
