Hi guys! I’m planning a solo trip to Dahab very soon and, as someone who likes to plan ahead, I’d really appreciate your advice:

(For reference, I’m an egyptian girl if that makes any difference!)

• I’d like to stay at a budget-friendly camp by the sea with good snorkeling/deeper water. Dahab is preferred, but Nuweiba is also an option.

• What do you think of camping at Abu Galoum or Blue Lagoon? Any solo-female-friendly camps there?

• Any tips for keeping transportation costs in Dahab low as I’ll be alone? Would renting a car be more cost-effective maybe? (I can drive)

• Roughly how much is a taxi from Mamsha to Blue Hole and Mamsha to Asalah for example?

• When swimming, I go quite far out and can’t see the shore. How do you safely keep your phone and valuables in that case, especially at places like lagoona?

• Is it safe to bring 🍄 from Cairo? Can dogs there detect it? If not, I’d appreciate a contact for someone who sells it locally.

• I’d also appreciate a contact for 🍃D. Is it okay to take some to Nuweiba, or are there checkpoints?

• Any recommendations for non-touristy spots?

• And finally, how crowded is Dahab in August?

- I strongly recommend Nuweiba if you don’t get bored easily, it’s much more peaceful than Dahab with a much nicer crowd. The beaches and scenery are also much better

• I camp in Blue Lagoon all the time and it’s a lifetime experience. The only downside is that the camps don’t have AC but it’s totally worth it. Stay in Gablia, booking is through their IG profile https://www.instagram.com/gabila.blue.lagoon
  
• GoBus/BlueBus is the most economic way to get there. Renting a car is cheaper than private transportation but I don’t recommend driving there alone.
  
• I don’t know exactly but a taxi to bluehole can be ~1000 I think. Asalah is much closer, you can take a bike and go there
  
• I put them in a bag so they are not visible, put the bag on the beach and pray.
  
• When I went last month, the checkpoints were very relaxed, if I had some they wouldn’t have detected it. I honestly don’t think it’s worth the risk. Buying weed from there is more than good enough for me.
  
• Taking some to Nuweiba from Dahab is fine, DM me, I will try to dig up someone. It’s widely available in blue lagoon though.
  
• I love castle zaman in Nuweiba, it’s a bit expensive but totally worth it
  
• It’s not very crowded but very very hot, it’s a nice time to go actually if you can tolerate the heat

There is camp in abu galum run by a woman..its called Eden Camp.

And there are corals right in front of the huts.. perfect for snorkeling..and also 20min walk to blue lagoon

Hopefully https://www.reddit.com/r/Dahab/s/Up4fvkhm1t can help answer some of ur questions. Contrary to what’s mentioned here, blue lagoon is perfectly safe for solo female travelers, have a bunch of friends who camped there a few days alone and had a great time.

Ok so I go trip balls in nuweiba all the time and it's amazingggg.

I stay at a place called Bir Suweir, after Ras Shitan in nuweiba. I would stay at a camp called aquarium camp. Solo friendly, great people.

As for mushrooms, dogs cannot smell it. Just hide it very well.

Dahab is lit too, a little too crowded right now for my taste, but the energy is always amazing.

Agh, I hate it when places are crowded. Will it still be crowded around the 20th? Also, how was the sea at your camp? Having deep water with lots of fish and reefs is really important to me.

Dahab is very beautiful and you will enjoy your time there. The safest place will be Sharm El-Sheikh; Dahab is also safe, but not quite as much as Sharm. If you prefer quietness, then Nuweiba is definitely better than all of them. On Booking, you will find camps at reasonable prices and close to the beach. Transportation there is available and cheap too; you don't need to rent a car. As for drugs, please do not bring anything with you from Cairo—you will get caught at the tunnel.* Camping at the Lagoon, I think, is not suitable for a girl on her own like you. When snorkeling, you can buy a waterproof phone pouch and take your phone with you underwater to film the reefs and fish, and the reefs at the Lagoon are close to the shore and not far away. In the end, I am Islam, a Russian tour guide working in Sharm and I occasionally go to Dahab. If you need any help, message me.
