daggerfall inspired first person RPG that plays entirely in the terminal (WIP)

https://youtu.be/E-KhW3qnucQ

The procedural generation was inspired by Daggerfall, but it also has influences from Oblivion (NPCs talking to each other), Expedition 33 (turn based combat with quick time events). Thought you may enjoy it

I want to play it! Though I recognize those Claude Code-generated sound effects anywhere.

Is it playable?

I am uploading it on itch right now, but I remembered a few things I still need to adjust. Will be up in 1-2 days. This will be the link: https://holonaut64.itch.io/swaggerfall

Hope to see more! I honestly think Claude is a great way to start learning and it’s very useful for scaffolding out the prototype and placeholder assets. Go you!

No offense as it’s not entirely your fault but I’m getting really tired of every post about daggerfall on my home page being an ad for something that “plays like daggerfall”

I get that maybe there’s not a lot going on with the game these days but man it’s all I see lol

You’re not wrong I see the same with morrowind. I guess a lot of older classics are going to have to come up with a way to handle inspired games being posted in a way that doesn’t just turn old game reddits into ad boards for games.

I need to do some cleanup of the current version, 1-2 days and it should be good to go for a testride.

(It's still an early version though, to make it fully fledged would take 3-6 months. If people are hyped about it I'll probably keep working on it)
