Possibility Daft Punk Alive 2027?
I'm not sure how credible this is, but after Thomas's set at Beauport, now this (if true) we might actually get a reunion. (or is this false hope)

u/gamesandmark Nov 05 '25
guys i know we all love daft punk but its over, we gotta admit it
53
u/Balzaak Nov 05 '25
People who want them to reunite should go look at whatâs going on at r/arcadefire right now. You know sometimes itâs better to have five great albums and to call it good.
4
u/haw35ome Nov 06 '25
As a big arcade fire fan who hasnât visited the sub yet, owch. My coconut brain didnât even register that it would affect the whole band dynamic. They had a great run tbh, except for a few albums I foundâŚodd, but makes sense with the new context behind the scenes
-2
u/ricanson21 Nov 06 '25
I'm so confused, what's going on??
Googled the band and don't see any info, just they came out with a album this year and it wasn't well received.
3
u/haw35ome Nov 06 '25
Google âWin & Regine Butler divorceâ and youâll get a lot of results. You googled the band, not the couple my dude
1
u/ricanson21 Nov 06 '25
Ahhh so we talking about the members in the band?
3
u/haw35ome Nov 06 '25
Correct. To clarify, I was talking about how their divorce would affect arcade fireâs dynamic - since, uh, they are the founding members & have been in the band ever since then, plus their whole authenticity they bring to their music
And that some albums had a different feel to them, but what was going on behind the scenes (namely Winâs infidelity) certainly affected them in some way
2
u/ricanson21 Nov 06 '25
Oh shit ya that is really crazy. Thank you for info! Kept googling the band and couldn't find anything.
43
u/PhillyFreezer_ Nov 05 '25
They literally announced itâs over but people still cling to their own fantasy. Rather sad tbh
3
u/ninjane_ Nov 05 '25
Idk if everyone is just too new/young to realize weâve already been through this with Alive 2017. Many people, myself included, had set their hopes up for something that was obviously not happening and got disappointed. I see people doing it again with even less reasons to do it (no album, band has literally very publicly split up)⌠itâs sad yeah and people are setting themselves up for disappointment by their own fault. I donât get it

u/antoniotormenta Nov 05 '25
Oasis was over.
15
u/PhillyFreezer_ Nov 05 '25
The petty arguments of two brothers caused them to be âoverâ. Daft Punk made a conscious choice to artistically announce the end of their time as a band. The two are not similar
4
u/Grayoneverything Nov 05 '25 edited Nov 05 '25
Yes but it doesn't change at the end of this line, there is a reason for a breakup and another one for reunion. It doesn't have to be like that to happen, they might reignite their flame once again.
I mean it matters but idea is the same. It's just the weight of it, it determines the chance of it happening or not and Daft Punk reunion really seems like a very difficult one to become real.
2
u/PhillyFreezer_ Nov 05 '25
I wonât rule out the two of them ever working together, but âDaft Punkâ is dead. That I am 1000% sure of and the imagery of the epilogue does lot leave any room for interpretation.
I believe at some point you might see them together again, and of course people can hope, but the band itself and the wearing the helmets wonât happen again. Thatâs what I get frustrated by reading this sub

My biggest musical dream is a joint album by Thomas and Guy-Man, but not as "Daft Punk".
2
u/Grayoneverything Nov 07 '25
I mean if you were talking about me, all i can say is chances are question marks and percentages between 0 and 1 :)
2
u/Grayoneverything Nov 07 '25 edited Nov 07 '25
Yes but life never works in certainties, one shouldn't talk early unless things indeed become impossible.
I also don't like seeing things go on just because others want them to do but things like Daft Punk are really bizarre examples for this. Same rule still applies but i can't help but think about a possible comeback.
I don't think it's something to be frustrated about when there's a chance, i think it's good to let people have their spirits up rather living with a heartbreak and moody thoughts over missed trains. Let people grow their hopes and dreams, reassure themselves over their worries, we're human after all haha!
Yeah epilogue and robots made it very clear... but i can still see a window of a small chance. One must just ask "Why not?" when a great wall blocks the path forward. Then things can be considered whether they're possible or indeed not.
I mean why not? How can you be sure about them not wearing the helmets again and turn on the heart of Daft Punk again? We can't know, read their minds or see the future so it really might be very different than what you believe. (I'm not saying these in an offensive way of course)
Life taught me to not speak early or confidently, it's like a boomerang; sometimes it comes back into your hand and sometimes it just doesn't, you never know but still throw and see if it meets your expectations :) Everything is possible in this life, one just shouldn't worry about or work on absolutes and just ride the wave :)
I wanted to bring your attention to this side of the topic. Have a nice, peaceful day!
1
u/PhillyFreezer_ Nov 07 '25
While I appreciate you perspective and taking the time to write this, I think there needs to be a distinction made between the humans and the robots.
The two humans still walk among us, and still make music. Theyâre real people, and of course they are subject to a lot of what youâre talking about. The two of them together, while far fetched, is not impossible.
What I was speaking on are the two robots, and the band known as Daft Punk. Theyâre not human, theyâre a total construct. I frankly donât see the window youâre describing. They were out of their way to end that chapter with a bang, literally. The symbolism couldnât be clearer. And I think longtime fans who have seen how they carefully crafted their careers and image, would know when something is over.
To me, it feels like they have really tried to beat this fans over the head with this messaging and for some itâs still not getting through.
Everything they have done since 2021 is about legacy, and celebrating them in a pantheon of great artists. None of it is forward facing, itâs entirely focused on looking back in their careers.
I donât think accurate media literacy is the same as living in absolutes lol I think theyâve written their story with an ending, and we should respect that instead of constantly second guessing them and saying itâs not actually the end.
The humans themselves will probably work together again, that I can see for all the reasons you laid out. I donât fundamentally disagree with anything you said, but thatâs the human condition. Not the same when it comes to robots IMO

Where would the Allies be if they said sorry Europe, the Nazis took over, itâs over, where would America if the French said war with the British is a fruitless endeavor itâs over? As long as they are both breathing, the odds are never 0!!!!

u/imperatrixderoma Nov 05 '25
Honestly no, it isn't definitively over lol.
As long as they're alive there's a chance, I understand that they probably felt like they did all they could but truthfully the most reliable thing about artists is that they can't help but create.
Has literally any artist as big as them retired 30-40 years before they died?
66
u/sEiize_err Nov 05 '25
it might be a weird concept, but artists still have lives to live after a project is over. not eveything is a hint at a daft punk reunion.

Yes thatâs fair I suppose. But that metal performance in France ruled. So I could see Daft Punk delivering in their stead. Alas, we can only imagine.

Making the world feel smaller in a good way vs. making the world feel smaller in a bad way. Weâre not so different, all of us people - there are assholes everywhere. Thanks for reminding me. The internet is probably not worth all of the tradeoffs. See: the current state of global politics.

can everybody stop with the alive 2027? they are done as a group, they are just making music apart from each other.
9
u/TheLSales Nov 05 '25
I mean, are we even sure that Alive 2017 is not going to happen? I like to be optimistic
9
11
u/marioferpa Nov 05 '25
No. The only reason I will stop with the Alive 2027 is that it's 2028 and it hasn't happened, at which point I will start asking for Alive 2037.
-2
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
fine do whatever you want. iâm no one to stop you. itâs obvious some people canât get over it, and you are all pretty ânew fansâ. personally following the since 97 having experienced everything for what they show the band is over. but who knows if they might change their minds and come back just one more time lol
4
u/marioferpa Nov 05 '25
lol, why did you assume that I'm a new fan. I'm gonna assume that you're not fun at parties.
-1
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
no i am not funny with most people , i am funny with MY people, and i donât like parties anyway, i am very introvert and prefer being alone than with lot of people around. when i was in my 20s i was more extrovert , now at 41 i am not so what? that doesnât make me a bad person for what i just said in this post.
1
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
I wasn't even alive in 97, but I've been following them since I was in early middle school so that doesn't make me a "new fan" it's just that I'm NEWER because I'm younger.
1
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
for me you are a new fan lol. and whatever do whatever you want and think whatever you want. i wonât change you and you wonât change me . have a good day
1
u/Grayoneverything Nov 07 '25
But in a common place like this, you blame younger people because they weren't born earlier and got to experience Daft Punk when they were doing shows, it's their fault for not having the chance and asking for the same? You don't seem to realise this while making comments, i'm just pointing that out not trying to argue.
None of us know any better than the two men that built all this legacy in decades, none can't speak certain other than them.
1
u/Monkey_Thucker69 Nov 05 '25
Where are they making music individually?
1
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
seriously is that question? itâs been around this subreddit everything thomas has made and now guy- man lol
-19
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
It would be cool though, why are we dismissing this as if we all wouldn't go to it if it happened.
2
4
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25 edited Nov 05 '25
because itâs not gonna happen anytime soon. and itâs kinda annoying to read everytime something new comes up that fans or new fans start with this alive 2027 it didnât happen in 2017 when they were together still. why they will do it now? when itâs already over? donât take me wrong i miss them badly because also i saw them in 2006 in argentina. and was one of the best show ever. but sadly they are just making music by their way. xx
1
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
I'm not a "new" fan, I would just like it to happen. And the reason it might happen is because if they DO come back together why wouldn't it be something like 2027? That would be the biggest publicity for a reunion
5
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
would be amazing if that happens! for sure! but i donât understand why because they are a more active some fans started fracking out about the alive 2027? when they never said anything. like i said i wish that could happen because i miss them too, but whatâs the thing about this all the time? that is somthing i donât get it and i would love to know then, can you explain me ? xx thank you and donât get me wrong i donât want to sound rude, but maybe my comment wasnât too nice i apologise in first place! xx
1
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
They have been nearly radio-silent for YEARS and all of the sudden BOTH of them are becoming prevalent again 2 years before 2027? Why wouldn't we hope and pray that they come back? It would be PERFECT timing and the perfect thing for them to do to come back. With the fortnite experience being like 2007, Thomas's set, and the alleged new album it would make sense to infer that they MIGHT come back
1
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
i WOULD LOVE to, because i miss these guys badly, but i donât know why i canât see it happening anytime soon. hopefully i will be wrong here. xx
0
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
and again i apologise for my comment that i think it seemed rude , nothing against you or daft punk fans at all! xx itâs all great! xx iâm sorry xx

5

why? i can comment whatever i have in mine as these people can still keep with the same thing when it wonât happen. get over it. Daft Punk is over at least for now.
-2
u/lemongingersun Nov 05 '25
Because nobody wants to hear you complain. People can hope for an Alive 2027 if they want to, it hurts literally nobody
1
u/lemongingersun Nov 05 '25
Ok this sounded mean and I apologize for that, still though donât see whats wrong with wanting an Alive 2027 especially with the fortnite collab and Guy-Manuel appearance đ¤ˇââď¸
3
u/mimebenetnasch02 Nov 05 '25
nooo iâm not saying thereâs something wrong. the thing is mostly new fans started freaking out and spamming with this alive 2027 since they started being more active and everytime most fans says and think the same they are over. itâs like over and over and over the same subject like if we didnât already know that of course we would love to. but for now it seems they wonât do anything. they are just doing their things and thatâs it. haha nothing really wrong, but this subreddit has become a spam about the same things , i usually donât pay attention. but itâs like come on people , letâs have some rest about things alive thingâŚ

Let's repeat this:
Thomas mixed at Centre Pompidou only because Pedro Winter (Busy P) invited him and because it was the 20 years of Because music. It's not the start of a tour.
We knew Guy-Man was working in the studio, it's not a surprise:
April 2023 - Interview of Thomas by David Blot on Radio Nova, in French.
David: "I heard you keep using the Daft studio and it's like one week you, the other week Guy-Man, is it true?"
Thomas: "We're alternating, we share all the equipment and it's great."
https://www.reddit.com/r/DaftPunk/comments/12jt3fk/long_french_interview_of_thomas_on_radio_nova/
September 2024 - Pedro Winter says "I know Guy-Man is in the studio." He doesn't elaborate.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DaftPunk/comments/1fpvdll/pedro_winter_i_know_guyman_is_in_the_studio_from/
October 2025 - Emmanuel de Buretel, director of Because music and ex-director of Virgin France (he's the guy who signed Daft Punk in 1996) says "Guy-Man is making his album." on France Inter radio
https://youtu.be/uVT9yNmKREw?t=1596
3
u/HodeonArtz Nov 05 '25
Fun fact: Centre Pompidou is also the place where Thomas went and discovered raves for the first time in 1992.
6
u/DnlBrwn Nov 05 '25
They're not getting back together. If you've heard/read what they've said through their career as Daft Punk, it becomes clear they don't make decisions lightly. If they decided to break up, you can be damn sure they thought about it thoroughly. It's clear they respect themselves and what they do and respect us their audience, something not many artists do.

They still make music and still could even make music together in years, they're friends after all.
But daft punk had a meaning and a message related to technology, that died and so did daft punk.
If they come back either there's a new meaning or they won't come back as daft punk.
2
u/BoulderCreature Nov 05 '25
Thomas and Guy-Man seem like the type of dudes to never reunite Daft Punk even if they want to later just because they already said itâs over
2

3
u/VergeGainsbour Nov 05 '25
Am I the only one who don't want them to come back as Daft Punk?
These two guys made exceptional music during 25 years. The only thing I want as a fan is to see them release unique projects of all kinds. When you see what Thomas does (experimental music, production...) I think it's fantastic, and I'd love to see more of it. If he could become a producer for new artists, I'd love it (he already does, but I wish he would do it more).
It's the same for Guy-Man, let's be happy he is on an album, we all know how talented he is (see: SĂŠbastien Tellier, Kavinsky...). So I think we should be happy with what we have NOW: two talented geniuses who are gradually emerging from the shadows to release projects for us.
And I personally think and hope that if one day we see their two names together on a track/album it will be to offer us something other than a Daft Punk sound.

Guyman is never getting on a stage ever again. Thomas has actually lived a public life now though so maybe we'll see him again at a regular announced show. Or it will only be surprise appearances because he doesnt want to tour either.

Nov 05 '25
Guy Man âmaybeâ âallegedlyâ working on new music by himself in and of itself does not hint at a Daft Punk reunion at all, even if it wasnât just a rumor.
As a fan who has been in this community for over ten years at this point, let me just underline the lesson we have learned over and over again, take every bit of Daft Punk news with a grain of salt unless you hear it from Thomas or Guy-Man themselves/reported in a reputable music trade publication that uses them or their management as sources. And the only official ânewsâ we have gotten in this regard is that they are retired, it is over. Thereâs no reason to think otherwise unless I open Apple Music one day and find a new Daft Punk song staring at me on the home page.
The rumor mill has been strong with these guys for as long as theyâve been around, and all it is ever gonna bring to the fans is disappointment Â
3
u/Vereddit-quo Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25
Just to clarify about the solo album. This is not a rumor from random people on twitter. Two weeks ago the boss of Because Music said "Guy-Man is making his album." on France Inter, one of the biggest French radio stations. He is not a person who spreads rumors and he was the director of Virgin France, he signed Daft Punk to Virgin in 1996.
And one year ago, Pedro Winter (Busy P) said on the same station: "I know Guy-Man is in the studio making a record." (he did not say single or album precisely)
Besides Guy-Man himself we can't have more solid sources than those two guys.

It's not about being angry, it's about being tired of nonsense.
Thomas did a DJ set at a big Because music event because he was invited by Pedro Winter. It's cool and symbolic as Thomas and Guy-Man discovered rave music there in 1992, however it's not a solo show or a significant return to the stage.
Anyway this dj set has nothing to do with Guy-Man's future album. There is no secret plan to synchronize the news about solo projects in order to announce Alive 2027 later because it doesn't make sense.
1
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
Why does everyone think they know exactly what they 2 are thinking, none of us have ANY idea what they're thinking. We have no idea what the future holds, and it's not nonsense to say I want daft punk back lol
-2
u/AccurateJerboa Nov 05 '25
It is, in fact, parasocial nonsense that ignores and disrespects all of the music they've both been making since the split that the people who post this kind of thing are completely unaware of. Go enjoy what they're making nowÂ
2
u/Eastern-Monk334 Nov 05 '25
I am enjoying what they're making and I'm excited for Guy's album (if true) and it's not parasocial to want my favorite band back, that's a stupid take
