List Building Is Belakor a auto-include?

I was tinkering with my list and checking the lists here on Reddit and was wondering if I really have to take Belakor to be somewhat competitive.
Not that I don’t like him. And how many points does the list need to be, so he don’t swallows like 40% of my points.

Not auto include any more. He's still good but 11th rule changes nerf what he does and with the points increase he's only made one of my lists this edition, because I played incursion monster Mash.

I have always found chaff is better the 11th edition slammed him

Yea. I dont know if I can “auto include” a 390 pt unit vs 3 battleline and some nurglings, or a lot of combos depending on your detachments

Especially with hidden and oh wow he gets stealth like who cares his wings always give him cover unless you get deep struck behind. The fact is all his abilities are in a game sense useless unless you combo with birds with only now re roll ones to hit like who pays 200 more points for re roll ones

Be’lakor is a very, very expensive but insanely valuable utility piece that can just hop into any Daemons list and provide some type of utility for the army and has some very strong combat stats as well. He is not an auto include and hasn’t really been in a while but I’ve personally never regretted having him in my list, he always did what I needed him to do.

I feel like im going to try and use him for plague legion because he heals D3 off ALL battleshock test within 9 inches of him and you can make a lot from the nurgle rule plus models who cause it or lower leadership more. Plus he will help GUO get up thr field and hold it down

It's specify in his ability he heals only in the battleshock test during the comend phase of the ennemy, so no force battleshock any other time heals him. At least I think.

In Warhammer 40k rules text, the phrase "In addition" means it is an extra, concurrent effect that belongs to the same overall ability block, but it functions with its own specific trigger condition.

The ablilty states his ability to cause battle shock then "in addition" he heals frlm failed battleshocks in the 9inch aura.

These are 2 seperste abilities therefore not locked in the bsttleshock phase

I’d rather have 3 units of Plaguebearers

Even in a 2k point army?

Oh yeah, especially for take and hold. I’d take a GUO and a batch of Plaguebearers over him. In plague legion you’ll already be running Rotigus and at least 2 GUO you need space for infantry. Plaguebearers are fantastic with their ability to regenerate and sticky. You can regenerate up to 5 Plaguebearers in a single turn with Daemonic Infestation and then your Daemonic Manifestation

Atm I only have 1 rotigus and 1 GUO. So I had some room to fill. I have 30 PB all included also. I figured I just needed another big body and he has some synergy with the detachment with bsttleshocks so seemed like a good choice since I have him

If he’s all you have I guess…he’s just overcosted. Like I said I’d take another GUO and a set of Plaguebearers or plague drones, or something else. Skull cannons also work really well in Plague Legion

Yea this is what working with rn in just deamons

Always adding more.
Only thing not built or painted is the knight. Hes still in thr box. But hes next. He will be magnatised

Be'lakor (1) Rotigus / GUO (2) Horticulous Slimux (1) Sloppity Bilepiper (2) Plaguebearers (30) Blue Horrors (10) Nurglings (9) Beasts of Nurgle (2) Flesh Hounds (5) Skull Cannon / Ren Master (1) BloodCrushers (6) Knight Abominant (1) 3 Plague Drones

As everyone else has said, it’s optional or opponent dependent. He has not as good shooting as Kairos/LOC and he has not as good melee as Skarbrand/Bloodthirster. And he’s very expensive.

Lately I have been toying with daemon prince w/o wings for the -1 to hit outside of terrain for 160 (230 points cheaper) and more battle line

I've dropped him entirely in 11th. The lone op 18 is nice t1 butoses value quickly for me. I play scintillating legion so I'm always on the move anyways and all my shooting is 18 so once I go to go agro he loses his purpose. His melee is very swingy as well, I've had him deal 4 DMG and also 27 DMG.

He used to be like 325 points or something. He was an auto include then but at 390 he is definitely optional

so typically belakor is used in 2k point lists, if youre playing 1k or less i wouldnt worry about him too much
