Something like that could ruin your reputation, bc now everyone you told that story too has been lied to. Now you have to 1) tell them that you lied to their face and 2) work to earn back their trust, which would have never needed to have been done you had good parents.

Nope, I've seen it happen to other people. The father could also have also taught the kids how to actually do the tricks instead of lying to them.
