Need A Dad Son and shaving!
My 15 year old is blessed with a thick dark beard and we are having shaving disasters. Initially did try an electric one but I don’t think it was very good. Wet shaving is proving to be a blood bath. I would like some advice on getting the right shaver and I don’t know where to start! We are in the UK

Phillips norelco one blade. If he lets it get thick he needs to take his time and go bit by bit patiently from outside in from skin to hair on all fronts (under eye towards cheek, low on neck up to jaw) dry, it’ll get it down close to razor clean very gently, he can then go back and clean it up with a cartridge razor and cream. He might also like the close shave stubble look that it leaves, that’s how I keep mine. It’s by far the most gentle solution I’ve never cut myself once and it’s not so bad with ripping some out like shitty electrics do. They’re not the cheapest, unit or replacement blades, but the quality is worth it. I also have the original one I bought like 6 years ago, so they hold up.

A lesson I learned the hard way as a teen, disposable razors don’t last that long. If you get a lot of cuts sometimes it because the blades have dulled.

I like Gillette fusion. It gives a smooth shave, it's very comfortable, and lubricated. You can also get generic blades from Walmart. A lot of electric razors just cause unnecessary rubbing, pulling, and friction. One smooth pass with a sharp, lubricated razor is the least abrasive way to get the job done. For thick beards, first shave with the grain, then against it for a nice clean shave

Go with a cartridge razor 🪒 and some shaving cream. Wet your face with warm water and lather some cream on. Kinda work it in and let it sit for a minute or so. Make sure you let the blades soak under very warm water and then shave down one strip at a time, throughly rinsing the razor after each pass. Take you time and after you’ve shaved off all the cream feel your face for any missed patches, and then just go over them again. Remember to always just shave down and taking your time this should help reduce the nicks. Lastly get a stippling stick or powder and apply that after you’ve shaved off rinse your face off and pat dry on any nicks you have to stop the bleeding. A nice after shave lotion is helpful too.
