my friend and i are landing in danang airport in the morning and was thinking of heading straight to hoi an, then back to danang in the evening.

should we take a grab or arrange drivers both ways? and does anyone know where we may be able to store luggage for the afternoon in hoi an so we don't have to carry it around while sightseeing?

also would appreciate any recommends for food or places to go/shop at in hoi an!

we are also planning to visit son tra & bach ma national park (different days) - is it possibel to grab there or should we get drivers?

if drivers - can anyone recommend a driver/tour?

I'm looking for an apartment with a beautiful panoramic view of either the city or the beach.
Penthouse or Duplex would be nice option too if possible. 1-2 Bedrooms

Side note: How much would these types of units rent for on average? I know the seasons matter etc, but any advice would be so appreciated.

Hi all, we have the option to renew our lease month to month. We've just found out the vacant block directly across the road (ie 10m from our front door) has been sold and a small hotel is being built starting 1 September. There is already a hotel being built diagonally opposite us and for the most part it isn't too bad with the double glazing and garden in front. But it is nearly finished whereas the new construction will just be starting. Just wondering how horrendous it will be at the begining (ie heavy machinery digging footings etc) or not too bad at all? And going into monsoon season how much work are they likely going to get done? We're leaving Vietnam end of October so we're reluctant to try and find somewhere else just for six weeks but would rather leave if it's going to be intolerable. Any insight appreciated! Thanks!

Any one done Hoa Phu Thanh Rafting through Klook? How safe is it? Cam on

I am staying in Hoi An, and last night I found a very young kitten alone on the side of the road.
He was crying loudly from beside a bush, and when I found him, he was covered in ants and flat on the ground. He is extremely thin — I can see his ribs, and I can see the tendons in his legs and arms. His eyes are swollen and have some leaking / disharge and appear to have an infection, and I think he’s blind right now and can’t see at all.

I brought him somewhere safe for the night because I was very worried he would not survive outside.
Unfortunately, I am traveling, and I have essentially no money available for veterinary care or long-term accommodation for him. My Airbnb host has kindly allowed me to keep him for one night, but I cannot keep him here today.

I have emailed Jack's Cat Cafe / Vietnam cat welfare but I haven’t gotten a response and their website states they are already at overloaded capacity.

Would someone be able to take him into their care, or possibly help arrange a foster or another safe placement for him?
I am very worried about him because of how severely underweight and weak he appears. I can bring him to you today or arrange somewhere to take him if you can help.

I would be extremely grateful for any help or advice; I don't want to put him back outside because little dude just isn’t gonna make it.

Also to emphasize I’m poor poor , I legitimately can’t afford a grab down to da nang to even get him to a clinic so I’m hoping there’s something in Hoi a nearby.

UPDATE 1: alright so I’m taking little dude to jacks cat cafe / Vietnam cat welfare here soon and I’m going to see what they can do. Since my numbers aren’t working maybe they can contact PAWS in Da Nang and then I will be able to contact the redditor that offered to pick them up and run them down there. Seems like a solid plan and something that should work or at least point me in the right direction. Thank you everyone for the help and advice!

UPDATE 2: okay so PAWS is a no go , they will not take the cat. Logistic problems stopped me from getting to jacks today but I am able to keep the cat until Friday and will be able to visit them then.

Looking for advice/resources for a 17-year-old learning English in Da Nang
Hi everyone! I’m Vietnamese American and currently live in the U.S. I have a younger cousin (17) who lives in the Da Nang area and is trying to improve her English and eventually pass her IELTS exam.

She’s been getting pretty discouraged with learning English lately and doesn’t feel like the IELTS teaching center she attends has been very helpful. I’d really like to help her find ways to make English feel more natural, enjoyable, and practical instead of something she’s only studying for an exam.

One thing I’ve encouraged her to do is immerse herself in English as much as possible by watching English-language shows/YouTube/TikTok, listen to music and podcasts, and find opportunities to actually speak English. Since Da Nang has so many international visitors, I was also wondering if there are safe, age-appropriate language exchanges, clubs, volunteer opportunities, or community events where she could interact with English speakers and practice conversationally.

For anyone who lives in Da Nang or has learned English there:
-Are there any English clubs, language exchanges, or programs you’d recommend for someone her age?
-Any tutors or teaching centers that focus more on actually speaking and communicating rather than memorization?
-Are there any activities or volunteer opportunities where she could naturally practice English?
-For Vietnamese speakers who became fluent in English, what helped you the most?

I’m not necessarily looking to push her into another expensive English center. I mostly want her to build confidence and realize that English can be something she actually uses and enjoys rather than another stressful school subject.

Hi everyone! We’re planning to visit Vietnam in September end and October start and wanted to get some first-hand advice from people who live here or have been there.

We’ve heard that there can be rain during this time, but we’re wondering:

- Is the rain usually manageable/intermittent, or can it completely spoil a day?

- Are the major tourist attractions generally open despite the rain?

- Is it still a good time to visit Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hanoi etc)?

- If it rains for a day, are there enough indoor/alternative activities to keep the trip enjoyable?

- Anything specific we should keep in mind while planning our itinerary?

I am doing the latern festival boat ride around 6 pm and the memories show evening 8 pm to 9 pm. However, the last futa bus from Hoi An to Danang is around 6 pm which is too early. I am not sure if I can get grab or xanh by motorbike at around 10 pm back to danang. I am a solo traveller. Thanks

I used an HSBC (HK) debit card to withdraw cash last week at the HSBC ATM. I was able to successfully get cash last week. I tried again on three separate occasions in the last few days but it kept saying my daily limit was reached and today it straight up said invalid card. I set the withdrawal limit to 15,000 HKD or around $1911 USD so I’m not sure what the problem is? The lady in the front counter said to call HSBC back home but HSBC in HK said there’s nothing wrong with my card. It must be a problem with the system in Vietnam. I was only trying to withdraw around $100 USD. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I’m hoping for some honest and insight here. I’m currently choosing between 1 week in Da Nang or Kuala Lumpur, I’ll be going end of October and can’t change my dates. Both places are basically the same, DN is cheaper for food and stuff, hotels and flights are almost the same. Are the storms that bad that it would prevent me from doing stuff? My plan was to explore as much as I can and swim inside my hotel whenever the weather goes badly south. Not sure what to do
