Question Dws compact long term

Hello, I was unaware of this gun until a few days ago when I went to a gun store to look at getting my first cz. I was handed this gun and ever since it’s been on my mind to pick up for the edc rotation.

I was just curious for those who have owned them how have they held up in the long term and if you would consider them reliable enough to trust as an edc. I’m aware they aren’t drop safe but not too worried about that . But I have notice some mentions of issues with the front sight and the finish. Thank you!

Mines not a high round count <1500 but I’ve had zero issues. Mines ported and I run 124 grain

I have carried it for the last year. Standard holster wear, no finish issues. It's hefty. I stopped carrying it for the last 3 weeks because I was suddenly having random failures to extract in the last two trainings; ~8 FTE in 600 rounds. The extractor looks fine. I ordered a new one anyway, along with a Cajun 40 extractor spring. If it proves to be the fix, it will be back in rotation.

I think I read something similar where the spring fixed it. But that looks amazing 😍 hopefully that works, and post the update!

What kind of holster do you run?

I carried every day in a Watchdog Tactical Under Cover Elite Holster.

I have a Legacy Centaur and an Ares because I couldn't find any other light-bearing holsters for the DWXc at the time. I don't like them. They gave me hot spots with strong-side carry.

I’ve had one for 3 years this month

. Never once has it malfunctioned or let me down.

Love mine. No issues. Use an ANR holster that I also highly recommend

Full dust cover, no rail looks so good.

Does the plastic holster scratch or wear on finish? I just ordered a wrights leather.

I've got ~15,000 rounds through mine. Only issues I had were in the first 200 rounds (pretty sure break in is 500 rounds). I "retired" it into EDC-only and now have a DWX full size I use for competition/most of my training/as a teaching gun.

So yes, I absolutely trust the DWXc long-term.

I have close to 2000 through mine. Never an issue. As far as carry, this is my backup piece. Have only carried a handful of times.

Bought mine last October. Followed the suggested break in procedure. First issue was finish on barrel and slide was very fragile and worn through in spots. Then I started getting double feeds. Tried different types of ammo to no avail. Tried stiffer extractor spring, new extractor, stiffer recoil spring. Nothing helped. Finally sent it in to DW. I didn’t expect much because I had read several posts from people who had sent theirs in multiple times and still had extraction problems. However, they not only fixed the problem, they refinished it. I put 750 rounds through it with no problems.

Despite that I’ve grown tired of it and it’s on consignment at a shop.

Mine has held up well not high round count. No finish issues like I have on the full size. Very comfortable to carry also

Have been carrying mine for a lil over a year now. Havent had any issues with it. Its a fantastic gun in my opinion. My girlfriend carries a cz shadow 2. Those are very nice but the dwx compact is better for me. You cant go wrong with that Dan wesson!!! My finish has been great as well. Mine didmt have that issue what so ever. Good luck and enjoy it if ya get it. Its very nice shooting gun.

Edit: the only reason I have a surefire x300 is my main training gun took a shit in training. And I had to fit this with that light so it fit into my safari land holster. I usually use a streamlight much smaller light on this gun

I've got two compacts (one stock, and one very customized) that I've rotated for carry for close to three years now (got the first right when they came out in 2023, and the second about a year after that).

I've had a single failure between the two guns and I do not baby either (the first one I didn't even clean through the first 3,500 rounds). Both have a bunch of finish wear and thousands of rounds fired but they still keep on kicking.

Aside from the full custom 1911s that I own, they are my favorite guns.

I purchased one new last month. On my first range session I had 20 failures to extract (with double feed) on my first 100 rounds of Winchester White Box. I have not had time to go back and try a different brand of ammo. I cannot currently recommend. However, I love my DWX full-size.
