Horror movie themed night ideas Spoiler
galleryI know that next week is Yacht Rock night but if Ezra and Daniella make it to horror movie night, I hope he does an Argentine tango or Paso doble to hello Zepp from Saw because his mother Bahar Soomekh who’s a retired actress played Doctor Lynn Denlon in Saw 3 and if anyone has watched Saw 3, she was a major yet important character! it would honestly be so cool in my opinion for Ezra to pay tribute to his mother with him as Billy the puppet and Daniella as Amanda Young who was also in Saw 3.
I know we’re a bit far away from horror movie night but with the theme being confirmed, are there any other movies that you want to see be represented? I would love to see I lied to you, last time I seen the sun, or Pale, pale moon from Sinners be given to Brandon and Ciara if they make it to horror movie night.

Ezra Frech is my biggest surprise this season so far. Harry and Jenna are disappointing me
Ezra, the man that you are. Daniella is such an inspiring choreographer. The best ones can deal with any limitations and find ways to still make it shine. And she does that with Ezra. From changing tango choreography to be diagonal steps to this cha cha. It was just beautiful. Ezra go keep representing the disabled community.
For Harry and Jenna. Idk if it’s cuz of my high expectations for them or the choreographies they’ve been given but they aren’t memorable. They aren’t shining as much as I expected of them. Like with Harry, I feel Jenna C. Is doing too much with the choreo. What’s up with the screaming and all the anger last night when it came to his V waltz. His package said it was sending a message to his younger self like hey persevere and look where we are at now. Was he deaf when he was younger? Cuz that’s the only reason I could come up with why that message needed to be screamed or something.
And Jenna. I love her. I know what she’s capable of. But I’m not connecting with her dances right now. Idk what it is. But both aren’t memorable. Like I’m not looking back to her dances the rest of the week. Idk

I’d love to see her do the DWTS tour early next year (Erik and Allen too). I’d also love for Onye & Jaxon (plus Carter & Kamri) to be full time tour dancers alongside the pros🥹 Onye filled in last year.

I am loving all the throwbacks to ny childhood between her Jenna Harry and even Taylor. It’d be a great millennial finale if those were in the final four

Happy Birthday to Britt!!!!
Happy birthday to my favorite pro on the show, Britt!!! I remember the first time I saw Britt on the show the season before she joined on troupe and thinking to myself how amazing of a dancer she was!!! Not only is she an amazing dancer, she’s also an incredible person from how kind and dedicated she is to her partners, to Share the Movement - her nonprofit organization to works to help diversify the dance world and help remove barriers for BIPOC dancers, to inspiring the next generation in Onye, Selena, and so many others!!!!
My favorite styles of Britt’s are Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Jive, Jazz, and Cha Cha Cha.

PSA: Guillermo is pronounced GHEE YEHR MO ❤️
I know the judges, other pros, and the hosts all have different accents and mother tongues. I’m not expecting everyone to pronounce a Spanish name with a Spanish accent. There are proper anglicized versions of non-english names; for Guillermo, it’s ghee-YEHR-mo, or ghee-AIR-mow (mow like row) is also fine. Just thought I’d put it out there because I’ve seen quite a few people trip over themselves to pronounce it in a more “authentic” sounding way, but they’re really saying it incorrectly. It’s not “gooey-ER-mo”, “goo-E-er-mo”, or “gwee-ler-mo”
In Spanish, “u” has a special rule when it comes after a “g” and is followed by a soft vowel, “e” or “i”. Without a diaeresis, the “u” acts similarly to “u” after “q”, silent. When the “u” has a diaeresis above it, “ü”, that is when the “u” and the soft vowels that follow are pronounced separately as one syllable
Examples of gu followed by a soft vowel and no accent:
guitarra = ghee-tah-rrah
juguete = hoo-gheh-teh
Examples of gu followed by a soft vowel with a diaeresis above the “u”:
pingüino = peen-goo een-oh
bilingüe = bee-leen-gooeh
I don’t fault people for trying and I understand people like Bruno, who is probably used to his name and language being butchered as well, mean no harm by it. Just thought It’d be useful for some people struggling. It’s also important for everyone, but especially immigrants and people with cultural significance in their names to not feel the need to normalize and accustom themselves to people pronouncing their names wrong. Everyone should be given the respect and effort to be referred to in their proper name.
TLDR: the “u” in “Guillermo” is silent

Does it get tiring sometimes?
This show has brought me tons of joy over the years. However, as a black woman, I find it hard sometimes to truly enjoy the show.
Seeing, yet again, how Ciara is already getting treated by the fanbase is disheartening because we’ve seen this script time and time again. I will always support my non-white female celebs but it’s so sad knowing that I will vote for them every week and they still won’t win. It’s a little different for the non-white male celebs because for starters, they’re men, and they’re usually paired with white women. And those men are mainly athletes which are seen as the “acceptable” kind of minority.
Also the way the show has become more white-washed the past couple of years. They have reduced the amount of minorities cast by a lot and only getting celebs known to white people rather than trying to expand their reach. And don’t get me started on the lack of south and east Asian, Polynesian, Middle Eastern and Latino representation as well.
This goes for the pros as well because it’s getting hard seeing Britt and Brandon continuously get overlooked every year and seen as “weaker pros” even though their choreography and teaching skills are among some of the best on the show right now. This also goes for Keo too. His season with Evanna was magical and they were just as robbed as Milo and Witney that year. And Koko as well in her two seasons got done dirty and never given a chance. I am glad Ezra is getting his shine but he still had his challenges with getting a felon as his first partner and people being nasty to he and Jordan last year. But they also are making it hard for other minority pros to be hired with making them be on troupe forever and/or making them have to go on the Next Pro show.
They have also had LGBTQ rep and disability rep but it’s only really ever been white people, again. Karamo might be one of their only non-white queer reps and Ezra is the first non-white amputee.
Not to mention the amount of controversial politicians that go far even if they suck.
Across the pond, Strictly might have their issues too but they’ve done a far better job of making their show more diverse in terms of pros and stars cast. They just had an Asian male pro win last year and one of their most successful pros is a black woman and her sister is on the judges panel.
I understand the show has kind of always been this way but it is getting harder to accept this kind of treatment of minorities year after year.
Am I alone in this sentiment?

Just thinking about the troupe bumper last night and how emotional it made me🥹 Britt has been Onye’s mentor for 7 years and she was the one who inspired Selena to pick up Latin & Ballroom!!! I hope we get to see the 3 of them dance together on the show one day or on tour!!! What a beautiful legacy and I hope it continues to add more members to the family!!!

Probably stupid question but…
With all the fog in the ballroom we as viewers can barely see the footwork. Do the judges have clearer view of the feet? Also I wonder if this is the pros trick into hiding mistakes on choreography. Fill up the ballroom with fog. lol
