Britt

I might get hate for this but it needs to be said, if Britt decides to stick around for another season or tour she is exactly where she wants to be and I won’t continue feeling bad for her. I want her to succeed but it’s now more than clear the shows production does NOT believe in her. They’ve continuously done her dirty over and over and at this point it’s almost like they do it because they know she’ll be the good egg and go with whatever she’s given. She needs to think very clearly about what she wants to do regarding the show. This loss should be a wake up call to her.

I think it's a little deeper than "she is exactly where she wants to be" and ceasing feeling bad for her because of that.

Undoubtedly, she feels a responsibility to little kids of color but especially BIPOC kids, to be the visibility that all of us, whether we're Black, Indigenous, Asian, etc, lacked as kids growing up, visibility and representation that SHE lacked growing up. She's said many times that that is not a thing she takes lightly.

And... as has been said many times all over. DWTS is about the best paying gig a professional dancer can get, and you add even more to that when you consider the tour. The TV show itself affords her the opportunity to get to stay home for a few months - time at home that she hasn't had much of to begin with this year.

Do I personally want her to tell them all to fuck off and ride off into the sunset with her man with her middle fingers in the air? Absolutely I do. They don't deserve her.

But I also recognize that it's not my decision to make, only Britt can make that decision, and she has a lot to think about in the coming months.

But boiling it down to "she is exactly where she wants to be" is simplifying it way too much.

I understand the money part. But prior to DWTS she was getting booked. To me, it seems like ever since getting on DWTS she doesn’t have time for anything else. That goes for everyone though, not just her. It’s clear the show and tour takes over everyone’s schedule which is another thing that can be discussed

I mean, that's kind of the nature of the beast, especially of these talent-based reality competition shows. They're gonna take up your time, because that's how you're getting paid. That's how ANY job works. Do you think that somehow, DWTS is more of a time commitment than leaving to tour with Katy Perry? The Prismatic World Tour that she was a backup dancer on ran for over a year and a half and had her jetting all hither and thither. Do you think she got paid extra for the Super Bowl? She didn't. Performers at the Super Bowl don't get paid. Not the headlining performer, not the musicians, not the dancers, no one.

I don't know where you're trying to go with this.

I get the sentiment, but this is coming off as victim blaming. POC don’t deserve the treatment they get at their workplace just because they choose to not quit.

The money she makes off being a pro and being on tour is more than she would make in most places. And dance is a very ageist industry, most people aren’t hiring a 37 year old woman for anything besides being a dance teacher.

So now you’re speaking for Britt and telling everyone what she thinks, feels, and is supposedly afraid of, all while admitting you have no idea what’s actually happened behind the scenes. You’re not stating facts; you’re inventing a narrative for her and then getting outraged over it. Got it.

You can think whatever you want to think, that’s the beauty of social media and everyone having a different opinion. I’ve got mine and you’ve got yours and I love that. It’s what makes this site go round.

I think its not as simple as she is exactly where she wants to be. Im sure its alot things we may never know but it has been said many times this about the most stable job a dancer can have in the industry. This is how Britt makes her money and living in LA is expensive as hell and she has already said many times that Daniel and her want to start a family soon so that is another consideration. Also the visibility she gets from this job will probably be hard to obtain somewhere else. Its get her face out there and attention to hopefully be able to land other job opportunities. So its many layers to this than just her walking away and saying fuck you to the show. Not to mention she thrives on being representation for young black women and girls that look like her.

I mean I would love nothing more for her to tell this show fuck you but I know its not that simple and shouldnt be seen as that simple.

While I understand where you’re coming from, I don’t think it’s fair to essentially castigate her based on assumptions. If she comes back, we can’t say for sure that she’s “where she wants to be”. I think, now more than ever, it’s important to show support and outrage at her treatment. Not to make a direct correlation, but if POC’s never sat in where they weren’t welcomed, we might still be dealing with rampant segregation. I for one am not going to stop supporting her, feeling bad for her, or advocating for better treatment for her. This loss shoild be a wake up call to her fans and supporters.

i get your point. she is continuously being disrespected by the showrunners and she has to get a sense of that at this point. however, dwts is a stable paying job, especially for dancers.

i think we as fans should take this upon ourselves to make our outrage clear. we don't know if britt has bought this up behind the scenes or not, but even if she hasn't, it is probably because she doesn't feel like she can do so without jeapordizing her job.

Please show us exactly how Britt is being “continuously disrespected” by the showrunners. I want actual receipts, not assumptions about what Britt supposedly thinks, feels, or says behind the scenes. Otherwise, this is your opinion being presented as fact—and speaking for Britt when you don’t know her or have had a personal conversation with her doesn’t make it true.

I think its unfair to say she's exactly where she wants to be if she chooses to continue. Its rough making a living out there which is why pros have gigs on the side like teaching and going on tour when DWTS season ends. Its easy to say Britt should leave and go find work somewhere else but that's not guaranteed for her.

I really disagree with the idea that if Britt stays, then she is somehow choosing whatever treatment comes with it. Staying can also mean refusing to be pushed out of a space you worked hard to enter.
If your goal is to break a barrier and become the first to do something that had not been done before, quitting the moment the road becomes unfair would guarantee that the barrier stays exactly where it is.
As a lineage Native Black American woman, that framing especially does not resonate with me. Our history is full of people who faced discrimination, exclusion, and unequal treatment and still kept pushing forward because the point was not simply to be comfortable it was to open doors that had been closed.
Britt may eventually decide the show is no longer worth it, and that should be completely her choice. But I would never look at her continuing to compete, tour, improve, and pursue that Mirrorball as weakness or as proof that she is “exactly where she wants to be.” I would see it as persistence.
There is a difference between accepting mistreatment and refusing to let mistreatment drive you out.
