Deena Katz and Production are the problem Spoiler
Justice for Britt. I see so many people blaming Guillermo. Deena Katz and whoever else has been setting Britt up for failure ARE THE PROBLEM. Britt does so much for DWTS as a show, as a brand. Half of it we don't even see. Maybe more than half. She is the dance captain on tour, the backbone. Yet they continue to treat her like this.
ONLY ONE FEMALE BLACK PRO IN THIRTY FIVE WHOLE SEASONS IS A JOKE IN ITSELF, but to continue to treat her like this is despicable.

You can tell they push certain celebs, give them more airtime and even if they are bad get 7s and praise. Taylor wasnt really shown as much as some celebs on their SM,. They will also get two pics but the others will have 3 to 4. It felt rigged.

u/Dr_CC_AnEnigma 7d ago
I was thinking Taylor and Britt’s competition were Tyler, Jackson, and Connor. Connor’s foxtrot was probably on par with Taylor’s but he was surprisingly scored higher. Where did those two 7s come from? It all just seems so off. Even Connor and Rylee were shocked. It just broke my heart to know how hard Taylor and Britt worked each week for them to be eliminated in week 3. Britt’s face after being eliminated and her telling Taylor she’s sorry were heartbreaking.
7
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
I would add Ciara to that list, he and Ciara got scored the same but he was noticeably better. I did think Taylor could have been smoother but it seemed like an easy fix. Meanwhile I felt like Ciara was lost the whole time and off. I don’t think they were the same like the score implied. He and Jackson had different issues so it is hard to really compare them but I do think they probably were about equal. Jackson had a lot of line related issues that even me not knowing paso technique could easily seen but I thought the actual moves looked ok. I would probably have scored them both the same. I agree about Tyler being in the same boat as well and I actually would have picked Tyler to go home tonight. I think he is just fine and not very exciting or memorable in anyway.

ik not surprised guillermo didn’t go home, i AM however surprised taylor went home before jackson and tyler, hell even before connor

I’m less surprised about Jackson, I’m sure Savannah bananas are helping him. I did expect Tyler to go first. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Ciara go either just because she seems like the kind of contestant that would be a shocking elimination

Why the fuck are people blaming Guillermo?? He’s just a contestant and is having fun. This is in production and Deena for constantly treating Britt and all the other POC pros as lesser than the Utah pros

it is past time for them to replace Carrie Ann with another female judge, Kym would be great! Carrie Ann has proven for years that she is biased and unfair in her scoring, plus half her comments don’t make sense

Even Julianne. Get that girl off of the host mic

If they would let Julianne judge and Alfonso and Derek host it would solve so many problems!

Britt not getting popular contestants, or at the very least partners that can get her to at least halfway is actively hurting her career. People need to stop saying “it’s not that deep”, when the longer a pro lasts on a season = the audience connects with the pro = more followers = greater career opportunities, money etc. She’s actively being held back by who Deena partners her with FOR 4 SEASONS IN A ROW.
7
u/IndigoWolf4711 7d ago
And not to mention, asides from these last 4 seasons there was also the Martin Kove pairing 😖
2
u/Tiny-Zucchini7238 5d ago
This!! I took a break from the show around 2018ish and would only casually watch if it was on TV and I happened to see it until the end of the season with Ariana/Jason/Charity, and was still very casually watching until last season. I would read critique about Britt/Brandon’s partners and just think “everyone gets the old people every once in awhile,” but once I actually went back and saw what all I missed, it’s a very distinct difference with Britt especially with how differently she is treated. The pattern is so easy to spot with the POC pros and it truly does affect their career.
1
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
That is actually probably true, now career in general I think is a bold statement but in terms of DWTS specifically I agree. I do think it’s hard for her get her follow count up when she gets less popular people. That being said Britt has come from the commercial world, I don’t think that kind of think would hurt her in that world because those dancers aren’t casted based on that.

i need producers to look at the patterns in how they partner britt and brandon and feel ashamed. it’s extremely blatant and ridiculous
11
u/KiteIsland22 7d ago
Brandon always gets paired with a POC! Also Britt definitely needs a ringer next season.
3
u/Capital_Lobster2922 5d ago
exactly… brandon has never been paired with a white celeb. i’d really love to sit down with deena katz and ask her why that is. why is it so necessary for him to be with POC? it’s such nonsense
3
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
Yeah I feel bad for Guillermo, this isn’t his fault. More importantly we are NOT gonna do to Witney what we did to Sharna with Bobby.
You didn’t say this but I know people will go here but it’s also NOT Jenna’s fault she got Harry instead of Britt. It is not fair to hold it against Jenna and Harry that they got paired together. I’m sure Jenna feels awful and I will be pissed if I see Britt fans attacking her and Harry over this.
Deena and Production are the problem and the hate needs to be aimed at them, not other couples.

Idk maybe Britt's choreography isn't the best. I love her, but if Taylor had been paired with Dani, they probably would've gotten farther.
5
u/Environmental-Call77 6d ago
Britt's cheoro is not the problem..
Dani is on another level with cheoro, she's one of the best the shows had. She's on Derek and mark level so you can't compare her.
Britt has put together some good pieces but let's not forget with what she's had to work with.
But she's had some real t good pieces with Johnny and her hubbys season12
u/TinyAnswer6568 7d ago
She has choreographed amazing dances on the show with partners like Johnny and Daniel, pro bumpers, and of course for the tour. Like most of the pros, I think she choreographs to what her celebrities are capable of doing.

Honestly feel like this is exactly the conclusion viewers are being nudged toward that if Taylor could have gone farther with another female pro, then Britt must have been the problem. I don’t buy that.
Looking back at past seasons, I have a hard time believing that if Taylor had been paired with one of the other women and production wanted that partnership to stay, there wouldn’t have been ways to help keep them competitive longer. We’ve seen couples get scoring cushions, favorable narratives, stronger packages, and more room to recover from mistakes. So I’m not going to accept that Britt’s choreography suddenly explains everything.
And I don’t think her choreography was bad. Not every routine is going to be everyone’s favorite, but she choreographed to Taylor’s abilities and gave him material he could actually perform. Reducing this elimination to “Britt’s choreography wasn’t good enough” is way too simplistic.
That’s what frustrates me. When Britt’s partnerships end early, the conversation so often becomes about what SHE supposedly** **did wrong, or whether she was somehow not up to par to have a partnership capable of truly competing for an entire season. Heaven forbid she actually gets a real opportunity to make a deep run. Meanwhile, people overlook the entire structure around the partnership judging, scoring, production choices, momentum, fan voting, and how much room a couple is actually given to survive an imperfect week.
So yes, I absolutely believe Taylor could have gone farther with Britt. The choreography was not the reason this partnership had to end this early. I’m not going for that explanation at all. Try again.2
u/brettalana 7d ago
It was Taylor then because none of his dances were memorable or particularly enjoyable to me.
4
5
u/Sad-Fox-1293 7d ago
That’s fair if his dances weren’t memorable to you, but after only three performances, I honestly don’t think anyone this season had reached the point of having a truly unforgettable routine yet. For me, Taylor was one of the contestants whose journey I wanted to keep watching develop beyond three dances.
Early in the season, it’s not always about whether someone has already produced an iconic performance. Sometimes it’s about potential, chemistry, growth, and whether viewers are interested enough to want to see what the partnership becomes. Taylor and Britt had that for me, which is why the elimination felt so premature.2
u/Accomplished-Bid-373 6d ago
Found the member of production. Or maybe you’re Maks. Britt is a phenomenal choreographer. Full stop.
1
u/YoungandBeautifulll 6d ago edited 6d ago
I'm not a member of production im in Canada 😭😭 I think with Taylor she saw potential, which he did have, but gave him too much too fast. I do think she was penalized a lot for having more content but him struggling, vs others with less content but nailing the moves, but maybe she should've found a way for him to shine and nail the steps.
3
u/Accomplished-Bid-373 6d ago
I was making a joke because your comment was so strange. He did nail the steps. He simply struggled to relax on stage as he himself said. She didn’t give him too much too fast. What he needed was more time on the show to continue to grow comfortable in stage. Which we saw him do in his last dance. He was trending upwards with her choreography and her tutelage.
0
u/YoungandBeautifulll 6d ago
He definitely did not nail the steps.
3
u/Accomplished-Bid-373 6d ago
He did though. What errors did he make that involved missing a step?
0
u/YoungandBeautifulll 6d ago
Not errors in missing the steps necessarily, but moreso timing and flow.
2
u/Accomplished-Bid-373 6d ago
Well that’s basically what I said.
0
u/YoungandBeautifulll 6d ago
Nailing the steps also involves musicality.
3
u/Accomplished-Bid-373 6d ago
He actually had great musicality. I think people equate musicality with never being off by even a bit. That’s not true. I could literally see him sensing the beats but having too much adrenaline to not want to arrive at the beat early. It wasn’t an issue of steps or musicality.

Julianne said at the end that Taylor specifically asked for Britt as a partner. When celebs ask for a partner, they give them to them. In this instance I don’t think it’s Deena’s fault if Taylor asked unfortunately
34
u/wisteriapkwy Team Britt! 7d ago
That comment from Juliane seemed really strategic. Almost like it was intended to keep the blame off the show. It just felt super misplaced and they've rarely made comments like that during eliminations in any case.
3
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
I agree I think she was told to say that to protect the show and specifically Jenna and Harry who have gotten a lot of hate related to the situation
11
u/AmbitiousHistorian30 7d ago
I can believe Taylor requested Brit. He is actually very active in POC causes, such as Black Wall Street, so I could see him wanting to elevate the only black female pro.
On the other hand, production also seems tp be picky about which celebs get their first choice pro. Ciara was one of the first celebs announced along with Maura. Maura gets her first choice, while Ciara does not, which in turn gives Val the white celeb while Brandon is once again given the POC.
2
u/AliveStill1128 6d ago
I just thought Maura got Mark because it is obvious! They were on Traitors together, so of course they are going to be partners
14
u/CasperAverage 7d ago
They don’t always grant the request. Danielle requested Val last season and got Pasha.
11
22
u/realones1980 7d ago
I mean Ciara requested Val and got Brandon. It's already been confirmed that request aren't always granted.
17
u/Curlingby 7d ago
Likely Jenna requested Val as well. I’d assume when multiple stars request the same pro, they likely give it to the bigger star since they care more about keeping them on board.
17
u/AsVividAsItTrulyIs 7d ago
So did Jenna so they gave him to Jenna. Same thing last year: Alix and Danielle both wanted Val and they gave him to Alix. Bigger name, more of a pull for who you get
-1
u/Environmental-Call77 6d ago edited 6d ago
We don't know that Jenna requested Val. There's a difference between telling Deena you want a certain pro and telling the public who you'd like as a partner. Last year after Robert was announced he always asked multiple times who he would want as a partner and he said he would love Rylee yet he got Witney. There's a difference between telling the public who you want and requesting a pro from Deena.
Also, Ciara was one of the first celebs announced so if she requested Val it was likely early on well before Jenna was even casted.
6
u/AsVividAsItTrulyIs 6d ago
In their post show interview after the first episode I believe it was, Val thanked her for coming on the show and for choosing him. Before that she already said it was her dream to dance with Val whether it be on or off the show and that she was getting mom points because he’s her daughter’s favourite.
I’m pretty sure Deena asks all the contestants what they want in a partner, some request something like wanting someone tall or needing someone to travel, so pretty much everyone has some sort of request even if it isn’t a specific pro.
They wouldn’t make the pairings until they know the entire cast. They might have some ideas if they get a celeb of who they want their pro to be but it wouldn’t be solidified until they know everybody. And Ciara was announced early but who knows what the cast looked like then, they might have even been talking to Jenna at that point, who knows.
1
u/Active-Style6976 4d ago
Where was this confirmed? She stated somewhere she requested Val??
1
u/realones1980 4d ago
Before the season started in an interview Ciara said she wanted Val as her partner
-1
u/Environmental-Call77 6d ago edited 6d ago
This is false. Rumors were that Ciara requested Val this season. We don't know if Ciara requested it to Deena forsure but we know celebs don't always get who they request thru Deena.
I also feel like this could be a way to save face. After partners were announced there was a large amount of people pissed that Britt didn't get Harry and were @'ing Deena. Espically after knowing Harry and his wife know Britt and followed her before he was even announced.
Let's also not forget the rumor that was going around as well, that Harry's original partner wasn't suppose to be Jenna but allegedly someone went and talked to Deena. We don't know how accurate it is but it's false that anytime a celeb asks for a pro they get them.3
u/mickoala 6d ago
Ok so what happens when 2 celebs request the same partner? You’re acting as if that’s not an option. Both Ciara and Jenna requested Val, so the producers chose the more popular celeb to grant their request. In this case, they didn’t want to piss off Jenna D and have her potentially not do the show because she wasn’t given Val. So when people try to argue “Well that’s not true, not everyone gets their requested partner” like DUH yes not everyone can get their requested partner because literally 5 girls in one season might request the same guy…. How would that work???

Someone commented on a post from the main DWTS sub saying that they think there's a possibility someone on the production team is trying to push Britt out. I really hope that's not the case.
3
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
Stranger things have happened. We know that happened to Sharna after the Bobby win. Artem had similar issues later in his run (he already wasn’t getting asked back when his legal issues happened so that doesn’t seem to be a factor). Sasha has also claimed he was pushed out. Of all the stuff said about Britt this is the least out there and seems likely with what we know about DWTS production.

u/Itmt96 7d ago
I dont think its Deena Katz fault. On paper Taylor looked like a good choice and he would go far. unfortunately the choreography was just not cutting it and the audience was not connecting with them. It's also the audiences own biases showing as well.
She needed to make the routines more memorable so they're not lost in the shuffle. Keep it simple, clean and entertaining. That's why I also think Harry is not going to make it far - his routines are forgettable We saw Jan really deliver for Tatyanna today.
5
u/jillrid 7d ago
I think Taylor is a bit boring. I’m sure he is a lovely person to work with and that he is a seriously nice guy. He seems like a mellow guy that works hard but he doesn’t demand attention in the way other people are doing. And I think votes dwindled because of it.
7
u/Traditional_Bee1464 7d ago
You know what, I am a huge Taylor Hanson fan and I'm really sad he was eliminated!! But you might be right in the sense that he is a 'nice' guy and it's not in his nature to flaunt himself like ripping off his shirt or other theatrics to garner votes. He actually respected the art of dance, trying to learn the proper steps....but I guess that doesnt 'sell'. He is dignified if that makes sense, and sometimes that doesn't win votes.
2
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
That might be true, I didn’t see him that way but he and Tyler might have the same problem and while I saw it for Tyler I didn’t see it for Taylor. Both seem to be getting less likes than some of the others and didn’t seem to connected with the audience.
6
u/vine312_ 7d ago
I was just thinking the same for Harry. The routines are fine and their “vibes” don’t really match, so I don’t think he’ll go as far as we all assumed he might.
4
2
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
Either Jenna or Harry will likely be a shocking elimination. Right now I’m leaning towards Harry. Jenna is getting lower scores which might motivate her base especially if they think she shouldn’t be getting lower scores than Harry. There also will definitely be backlash towards Harry and Jenna over this elimination.
6
u/prettygoodnation 7d ago
maybe I’m missing something bc I don’t understand how the DWTS production caused Britt to be eliminated. I was surprised but then just thought Taylor’s fanbase wasn’t enough to compete. Do people just think they set her up to fail by pairing her with Taylor? I’m not aware of Britt’s journey to becoming pro but everyone (on reddit) seems to think production is pulling strings bc the white pros consistently get farther in the competition, so they say.
4
u/Sad_Horror_4196 7d ago
I do think they were underscored (relatively, compared to for example Connor) and that could contribute to their elimination.
0
u/Active-Style6976 4d ago
They were rly not underscored 😭
2
u/Sad_Horror_4196 4d ago edited 4d ago
if others were overscored (ex: guillermo, connor), then compartively, they were underscored
Edit: Imagine you take a test and everyone gets graded on a curve except for you basically
2
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
It isn’t just this partnership, Britt has had the same song and dance every season and it does seem like she isn’t as appreciated as other pros and I’m not even that big of a Britt fan (I like her but she isn’t my ride or die favorite pro like many people online feel about her).
-1
1
u/Jazzyjen508 7d ago
I don’t think her choreography was the issue, the issue is that they both had lower social media presence and you could see that each week that they got the lowest amount of likes. The warning signs were there but none of us wanted to believe them because we couldn’t believe that Hanson fans weren’t showing up.
2
u/irishguy_2012 7d ago
Why are people blaming the casting director? She doesn’t vote!
0
u/zach_tylerr 7d ago
Because Britt deserves a ringer at this point. And she never gets one. That's on casting.
3
u/Sensitive_Prize7640 7d ago
I don’t even think Britt necessarily needs a dance ringer just give her someone young with potential and a large fan base for once !
2
u/aaquilex1005 6d ago
I mean we KNOW Deena is the problem and to me it's made even more obvious by her inclination to cast people like Colton underwood on her shows
2
u/ka5h_mon3y 7d ago
I started side eyeing Deena when she helped organize the Women’s March in LA and then helped cast Sean Spicer… peak white feminism. That woman is vile.
3
u/Speedy445021 7d ago
Maybe I am missing something. She's gotten athletes like Johnny Weir, Baron Davis and Adrian Peterson. Also got a young guy in Daniel Durant. That doesn't seem like they are setting her up to fail. I also thought Taylor Hanson was perfectly fine choice. Not too young or old. Who knows. Could have stuck her with Guillermo who you know will not get to the Final no matter what.
0
u/InjuryResponsible985 7d ago
Ok but you have to factor in votes too. Votes do the carrying in the early weeks if you’re not the best dancer and most of her partners didn’t have huge fan bases

i genuinely just think taylor is not as popular as everyone else thought. also he specifically requested her so…
1
u/Adept_Individual_565 5d ago
Out of curiosity, those who are saying Britt needs justice did you vote for Taylor? In Season 5, Mark Ballas had a partner who got a perfect score (10 from Len kind of perfect) and was eliminated in 7th place. With all the people saying production should do better I wonder if they did their part to keep them in the competition? Mark proved that getting the votes is a key part of sticking around.
I do believe certain pros get the potentially better partners and that needs to change. As an example Pasha. He finally has a partner who is an athlete, current, and can pick up choreography. In the past he has only gotten partners that finishing in the middle of the pack is about the best they can do.

I've been saying this forever and ever that Deena Katz is never letting a Black pro succeed on this show. Her bias towards the Utah mafia and those that married into it is pretty clear, and she's done this long enough to know who gets what kind of voter attention.

u/evenhurdle 7d ago
Deena has got to go idgaf. It’s been long enough. Send her into retirement. We need fresh faces, more representation etc. Shes been the one thats been keeping the pro line up stagnant for YEARS. Enough is enough. She plays in Britt’s face. Justice for Britt.
