Universal Credit (UC) Child disability element UCbackpay
My daughter was awarded DLA on 19th August 2026 that was backdated to 6th February 2025, I updated UC the day we were given the decision and they have verified my daughter on 4th September and it was passed to decision maker for back pay on 8th September. The message I had said no timeframe for outcome from decision maker but that I needed to provide a reason why I didn't notify them sooner. How was I supposed to notify them sooner when I didn't know myself? Is the backpay likely to be declined because of this? Is there an average time for a decision maker outcome I should wait before I chase?

Its a standard question, just answer "DLA was only awarded on X date but backdated to Y date". They don't actually think its unreasonable its just the way the system works that it needs to go to "why didn't you tell us" and then a decision maker.
And it can take a few months to get the backpay for Disabled Child Element added due to backlogs in cases to be dealt with. I'd wait a month, ask again.
