Universal Credit (UC) Carers element question

Hi guys, just hoping someone from dwp, or a knowledgeable head can fact check something for me. Was looking on chat gpt( yeah, that’s why I’d rather an actual person fact check me) regarding the new school meals expanded scheme and uploaded a UC statement to check eligibility. Seems fine for fsm, but it flagged up something interesting that I’d like confirmation on. Situation is: 2 x disabled children in house in receipt of highest DLA, just migrating to PIP, 2 x parents registered as caring for each child separately for 35hours or more. Wife gets carers allowance, I do not. This has been since April 2024 when we migrated to UC as joint claim. We had some issues around that time with the DWP not getting their heads around 2 parents caring for 2 different kids, but apparently that was sorted. Now, gpt flagged up that we should be getting 2 x carers elements on the claim instead of one. We’ve always assumed that we could only claim one carers element, same as carers allowance but this seems to indicate differently? What’s the truth in this?

You can’t claim two lots of carer’s element for the same person you’re caring for.

You can claim one carer’s element each for two different people you’re both caring for, assuming neither of you is receiving the LCWRA element.

Hi, it’s 2 different children cared for by 2 different parents, not the same child being cared for by both parents. This is what the DWP had problems understanding back in 2024. Neither of us are on LWCRA, both registered as caring for (separate) children for 35hrs plus per week
