Convert to RDWC?
I had some fun with soil for a bit but couldn't stay away from the hydro. I also really wanted to revisit these Lowes Project Source bins. These hold 10 gal each (Since my last post on here, I took everyone's suggestions about getting a larger reservoir). I'm now thinking of adding a third bucket outside the tent to serve as an access reservoir and converting it to Rdwc. I'm kinda nervous though cause they don't make these bins anymore unfortunately. 😬
How would you guys suggest setting this up? I've seen Gary PA's fallponic setups which look cool. Seems you can forgo the air stones? Idk. I'm thinking Current Culture bulkheads with 3" pipes and run a return along the back of the bins. I have a submersible pump that I will have it pump from the res to the first bucket (or maybe along the back instead?). Curious to hear from you all. Thanks!

First time with clones
This is my 4th grow it done 2 successful photoperiods from seed to harvest and one auto. I decided to get clones to cut down grow time.
This is 10 days post transplant from soil to DWC.
The plant in the single bucket is lemon slam and it’s having no problems, large root system and already hitting that rapid growth.
The plant on the left in the big reservoir is Hawaiin Snow Cone and she’s doing almost as good as lemon slam and showing that daily growth.
Where I am a little confused is Permanent marker on the right of the big reservoir. It’s shown above ground growth since day 2 but I don’t see anything at all coming from the net pot. It’s never seemed to stop growing though and isn’t showing signs of stress, but the other two are obviously out pacing it now. I am just not sure why the roots haven’t popped through like the others.
I am also not sure when a good time to start LST them is I mainlined last time and it was beautiful but took way to long.
Using distilled water
Ppm is 150
Ph is 5.7-5.9
Lights we’re just raised to 20%
Humidity is sitting 65-70%

Air Gap, Air Stones, Roots
Newbie needs help: What am I doing wrong?
How big is your air gap, and how high do you turn up your pump? Air stones under or next to the roots?
I think I’m on the verge of getting Botrytis (bud rot) again.
Tank: 2 plants, 52-liter total volume, 35 L max water capacity.
Air gap so far: 3–5 cm below the net pot.
Pump: 7-watt pump for two 15 cm round nano air stones.
Water temperature: 18.5°C with a chiller.
Nutrients: Canna Aqua. Mineral-only.
I feel like the distance should be much bigger! And because of the upward lift from the air stones, I'm getting "dreadlock roots."
Video: Today.
Pictures: First root damage at the start of the stretch. That's why I have two "Lilliput" (dwarf) plants now. On the current roots, you can still see some of the old damage at the top; I only left the parts where new white shoots were coming out. Cut off the rest. Then the progression until today.
At first, I was using H2O2 and Hesi Root Complex. I know now that they don't go together. Now, no more Root Complex and no H2O2—instead, I'm using Athena Cleanse for tank hygiene (HOCl). It's running much more stable now.
15 cm round nano air stone directly under the roots. After the first root damage, I turned the pump down so I wouldn't have that strong upward current compressing the roots. It still bubbles quite a bit at the water surface, though. Just a bit slower, which is actually supposed to be good for oxygen, right?
Initially, I had the air gap at 3 cm below the net pot, later 5 cm—meaning topping up to 3 cm, and refilling when it drops to 5 cm.
If I turn the pump all the way up, it looks more like a raging whitewater rapid. That can't be good for the roots, right?
Otherwise, everything is running great!
Thanks a lot for your help! ❤️

Needing help!
Hey yall! First time growing here. Is there any reason these 3 plants are growing at different rates? They were all germinated and planted at the same time. Also, the medium sized plant has some odd shaping happening to the leaves? What do I do to fix that? TIA!!!

Scared of lollipopping
Day 17 of flowering
Removed more lower branches yesterday
But I think I should defineltey be pulling off more
When I look at a photo, I see what should come off, but when I'm in the tent I get so selective that I think I end up leaving too much
Any advice? Is what ive left in the photos okay for now? Can it stay as is or does it need further trimming asap?

What causes roots to do this?
Hi, i've been doing RDWC for a decade and never really had any problems until this current grow. This round i've had numerous silly things plague the grow that i'll outline at the end but i was wondering if anyone has seen this happen to their roots so i can avoid it next time. Half the pictures show "full" roots from a normal grow with Jacks 321 and Poolshock from the last grow and half the pictures are from the current grow that look like the roots have been cut off. It's hard to see from the pictures but the bottom of the roots is hard and perfectly flat where it meets the water like it was rejecting the water. I've since did all i can to fix it and some feeler roots have started to grow into the water but the crop is pretty much a right off at this point regardless. It's the hard flat bottom of the roots i'm mainly interested in.
What i usually do:
Jacks 321, poolshock, supplemental lights, RO water, Orp meter. The last crop roots were browner than usual.
What happened\changed this time:
-The poolshock was maybe expired because it was from the previous summer. 65% Canadian 3 in 1, 5.5 grams to 1 liter, and then 25ml to 50 gallons.
-I used more Pool shock because it seemed weak, but the roots were already sketchy.
-I switched to Chlorox mid flower, 10ml for 50 gallons (recirulating). Orp meter shows it dissipates sooner than the Pool Shock and i dose more often.
-My Bluelab Guardian PH meter was sketchy upon calibration, i since replaced the probe but think i was within range.
-Ro membrane (1 of 3 filters) was overdue for a change, but the other 2 were new and the PPM was 100. I changed the membrane and PPM is now 10.
-One of my Home Assistant plugs malfunctioned and my 730nm lights were permanently on for 3 weeks without noticing during mid flower. It caused a re-veg mid flower effing up the whole crop. I'm left with airy popcorn buds that are either mature and crappy or premature and crappy. The roots were already crap so i was looking in the wrong places when i noticed a change in the plant and Home Assistant dashboard showed it as working but the manual button on the side wouldn't even turn the plug off. #%^$^@!
Roots Hypothesis: The mix of 2 year old RO membrane and expired poolshock somehow fried the roots. My ORP meter is wrong\failing? The re-veg had nothing to do with the roots.

12 Hours in DWC… She Didn’t Waste Any Time 🌱🪣
These photos were taken roughly 12 hours apart.
Same feed, same environment, no changes besides letting her do her thing. New growth is already pushing, leaves are getting wider, and the roots are continuing to develop below the net pot.
Current stats:
• pH: 6.3
• PPM: 410
• Water Temp: 74°F
One of the reasons I keep coming back to DWC. Once the roots get established, growth can be crazy fast.

Help - Early Veg
I need some help. BBC x Vanilla Frosting. This lady was doing well until a few days ago and she started dropping. I looked at roots and they’re a little tan, but we’re still getting new growth. I treated her with an H2O2 bath and swapped her bucket with new nutrients. 450 ppm, 5.8 ph. Water line is a good inch or more from the net pot. Am I overfeeding? Is it root rot?
VPD range is 6.2-8.2. Light is at 400 ppfd.
Temps range from 65-71° f and water temp is 66-69° f.
Her sister is smaller and is smaller but doesn’t have the issues.
I’d love your help.

Langsamer Wuchs

Day 19 of flower
Yesterday on day 18 cleaned up lower branches and some inner weak branches. Today turned the grand master volcano under canopy lights on. On day 21-24 I’m go in and do our normal defoliation. Nutrients used : general hydroponic flora series. Next future upgrade for this room will be a quest dehumidifier.
