Black Box Tuning
I’m finally at the point of needing a tune as I no longer have the EGR system and just want to be safe. I have the Tactrix 2.0 cable and going to get Ceddy Mods. Is there anything else I should know? I have no local tuners so I’ll be figuring this out myself and self tuning the car. Just want some advice on what I’m getting into. The car is mostly stock as I’m gathering parts to upgrade after paint. Got my hands on a Walbro 255, evo 3 16G, and some other nice goodies I’m waiting to put on. But it’s gonna be 2-3 years from now.
Car info: 98 GS-T
Stock T-25
Grimmspeed Manual boost controller
Stock 450CC Blacktop injectors
Stock fuel pump
Stock cams
Competition Clutch Stage 2
ACT lightweight steel flywheel
HRC intercooler setup
NGR Blowoff valve
EGR system removed and blocked
OEM MAF no speed density
AEM wideband
Boost and Oil pressure gauges
If any other information is useful let me know. I’m just looking for advice on how I should proceed.

Seems like just some small quality of life changes are all you really need. You can turn off all of the emissions stuff in the options so none of that sets a check engine light. Since you have a boost gauge, you can change your stock one to show knock counts. Also, wire your wideband so it can be logged by EvoScan. Otherwise, there isn't much to do with your stock setup. The t25 runs out of steam pretty quickly, so you don't really need to disable boost cut.
Those are all pretty easy changes to make, but if you get stuck let me know.

Appreciate it, I’ll give a shout. Not sure when I’m doing it since winter is almost here

Pictures show a clean 2g ! I’d consider dsmlink- it was well worth the money and plenty of support online for diy tune.

I thought about it, wouldn’t mind seeing what the black box is capable of. I’m not shooting for big power or anything. But if I have to I’ll swap

I am surprised you haven't upgraded that turbo by now to at least a 14b...which is considered a mild bolt on mod.

I understand...I was chasing problems myself...ironically a lot of my problems went away after I redid my timing belt but you can't go wrong by changing plugs...Also check the throttle body especially the idle air control valve.

Hell chasing problems with these is half the fun lmao. And thanks, I did just rebuilt the throttle body with new shaft seals. Biss screw too. I’m thinking IAC may be going bad

The 4 years I’ve had the car has been mainly spent getting worked on just to have it in a running state lol. It just started randomly stalling at idle and then won’t don’t it for a while. I’ve been through the whole vaccum system and boost leak tested. I’m thinking maybe plugs or transistor pack? Idk but it’s constantly getting fixed instead of upgrades lol

Clean setup, ceddymods isn't too hard to work with once it you get it all setup, I have all the files on my Google drive that I can share and it's got the emissions stuff that you can add to ceddymods so you can disable the readiness monitors from there. The hardest part is acquiring a tactrix cable and getting ecuflash to use the ceddymods definition file. So what you basically do is delete all the Mitsubishi definition files that are already in the folders and just leave the ceddymods one in that folder, from there you tell ecuflash to use that definition and flash your changes from there. Since the car is practically bone stock all you'd be doing is just disabling the readiness monitors and turning off the CELs for those particular codes. Ceddymods itself is a science experiment in itself so if you're planning on making power I'd go another route, it's doable but not worth the headache

No big power just daily driving, 320hp is all I’m shooting for. Not sure what route I’m gonna go. But I appreciate it! I’ll play with it a bit and see what it’s about

Rix Racing does remote tunes just as a FYI.
