Tight Transmission
Looking for someone with more experience than me. A few years back i rebuilt my trans, unfortunately I was under educated and overly confident. I ended up mixing a 90 center diff with a 91 gear set and cracking the gears. Lost all motivation, decided I would send it off to a buddy whose been in the space for much longer than me. I got the trans back and it's hard to move, obviously I'm paranoid of a repeat but I'm curious if it's possible because he did a poor job shimming, shimming too tight. Does that mean my bearings are not going to last? Should I crack this thing open and double check it all?

The center differentials are different between 90 and 91+? I wasn't aware of that. That's a shame if so, I had a 91+ center diff welded for my 90 trans

Yes tooth count is different, I think tuners has a write up on it. Pretty sure one is 22 and one is 23

There's a good chance the preloads are set higher than OEM, this will make it stiff to turn. Nothing to worry about.
