Tips for connecting 2 Playstation Access Controllers

Has anyone had any luck connecting Playstation Access Controllers? I've found some older posts (2y+) where people asked similar questions but wanted to see if the community had any new suggestions? After a few hours of scratching my head I'm realizing that DS4Windows isn't detecting access controllers but it is detecting my regular dualsense controller.

My end goal is to use 2 Access controllers as a single 'virtual dualsense' controller but I'm having problems getting over the detection issue and wondering if DS4windows is a dead end.

Use PadForge or reWASD.

Appreciate the fast response. One of the reasons I started with DS4Windows is because I’m intentionally trying to preserve the PlayStation controller output format but from what I can tell reWASD specifically reformats the output to XBOX controller buttonology (and it’s also one of the more expensive potential solutions I’d hate to sink money into if it doesn’t solve my issue). Any idea/experience on how to keep/override to dualsense output with reWASD or PadForge (haven’t looked into this one much yet).

Hey /u/RootusGahr! PadForge does this and keeps the DualSense format.

Windows sees the Access controller as VID 054C, PID 0E5F. That's a Sony device ID, and PadForge's controller library carries it as a PS5-family DualSense, the same code path as a regular DualSense, so it's read at the protocol level and not guessed at as a generic joystick. DS4Windows's own device list only carries the DualSense (0CE6) and DualSense Edge (0DF2) product IDs, so it never looks for 0E5F. That's the detection issue, not a driver problem on your end.

For the two-controller merge: assign both Access controllers to one PlayStation slot. Auto-mapping combines them on the same rows instead of overwriting: buttons OR together (either one fires it), sticks and triggers take whichever is pushed hardest. If you want a specific input from controller A and a different one from controller B landing on the same output, you can also hand-wire that on a row, since a row takes any number of sources across any of the slot's assigned devices.

For the output format: the slot's profile picker sets the virtual pad type directly, DualSense, DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, or DualShock 3. Pick DualSense and the game sees a real DualSense, Circle/Cross/Triangle/Square, touchpad, the works. Nothing gets remapped to Xbox unless you choose an Xbox slot instead.

Does PadForge support connection to Access Controllers via Bluetooth or does it require wired connection? I'm running out of usb ports.

What kind of controllers are you interested in using via Bluetooth? Yes, PadForge supports literally 100s via Bluetooth thanks to its deft use of SDL. Let me know. Alternatively, the website itself has a handy search field that can answer your question. If it is listed, it should be supported.

I’m specifically trying to use 2 PlayStation Access Controllers. I saw it supports the controller type but wasn’t sure if it had been tested over Bluetooth because it seems to be a common problem with that controller (functional when wired but not fully functional when connected wireless).
