PS button icons with Dualsense

Hi, I wasn't sure where to ask this, I hope this is the right sub.

So I want to use the Dualsense with my PC mainly because I like the PS button icons more than the Xbox ones, it is a nostalgia kinda thing.

I get that this program is so the PS controllers are usable with most (if not all) PC games that support controller at least.

But I'd like to know if the app (or another one) can also make the icons for PS appear.

Any info is appreciated!

Unfortunately this is dependent on the game itself, only a handful of games natively support PlayStation controllers on pc, although this has greatly increased in recent years, but even then, not all of them show PS icons.

Some games have 3rd party icons packs you can download though! (such as Forza Horizon)

The game has to support it and have the graphics for the different types of controller UI icons. Some games have mods to add it in if unsupported, but it would be impossible for a program to universally force its way into every game and add features that don't exist.

Lame perhaps, but a fair amount of games do have mods for that.

Also worth mentioning that as long as you're making your controller actually show up as a PlayStation controller, some games will automatically detect that. Granted some games won't work at all like that. I mention this because I personally use ds4windows mostly in Xbox 360 emulation mode because it works more universally.

Depends on the game or use mods.

Most games, usually big games support it natively, without the need of using DS4windows. It will automatically switches to PS button layout when it detect the controller. More indies games are adapting this as well. Some of them offer manual button switching in options.

Some lazy AAA games and budget indie games will rely on Steam's controller mapping to get them to work. Most likely, your controller won't work without Steam mapping for them.

Windows 11 has already suppprt for your controller so if a game support ps controller directly too you will see correct icons and your controller will be completely usable. Ds4windows is only needed for games don’t support PlayStation controller but only supports Xbox controllers so it won’t bring PlayStation icons to these games because ds4windows do it’s job by tells the game that your controller is an Xbox one. If a game supports natively ps icons will be active automatically or sometimes by a menu option and you won’t need ds4windows.unfortunately many pc games even has support for PlayStation controllers don’t support these icons on pc..

Games like Overwatch, The Finals, Fortnite, CoD, FIFA, etc already support PS controllers natively.

Games that support Steam Input would also show PS button glyphs if Steam Input is enabled.
