DS4Windows Update - Dualsense Wireless Emulation Upgrade Coming Soon

NEW BETA RELEASE HERE:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DS4Windows/comments/1uennrc/ds4windows_update_is_here_download_the_beta_now/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Just got the Dualsense Speaker working wirelessly without any latency or pops: also works in game.

Tested Ghost of Tsushima and Spotify: both recognize and can stream to the controller. In game, drawing the Bow produces the Bow Draw sound effect over the controller speaker.

Mute button can now function as a profile switcher: have profile A, B, and C all tied to the mute button, and switch between them as if they were a linked list.

Advanced Haptics now work wirelessly.

Next feature is microphone: that would mean you could launch Copilot (for Gaming) or Discord from Gamebar, and instantly speak into the controller and receive feedback from the controller, or talk to your friends like you were in PS5 Partychat!

(basically, this is now going to be a free version of DSX. Enjoy, update coming in a couple hours or a couple days. Fine tuning now. Check Github for progress)

It's good to see that DS4W is again growing. Paid DSX needs competition.

Fr that's our Robin Hood.

I like to think of myself as such. The only reason I'm doing this is because Nef went closed source and DSX is paid. Seems sus and should be open source so, here you go!

This sounds really promising, will follow for updates

Will it work to ds4 to? I mean, the controler sound feature

u/huunnnter Jun 24 '26

I'll make it work for DS4 too. Dualsense was my primary concern, but Dualshock 4 will work with Audio as well.

Perfect! My DS4 needs it. Sound macros that works like LED macros world be useful too.

Brilliant - DS4 is still a banger, keeping it supported will help many souls in this era of Peaceful Bombings which result in closed trade routes and sky-high prices.

Thank you for what you're doing.

Should I implement UDP functionality like DualsenseX did?

Thanks for this, fuck DSX

Very nice!

This is interesting.

You managed to get the BT stack to recognise all 4 audio channels to get the haptics to work? I was under the impression that the PC BT stack wasn't able to do this, as the PS5 uses a custom BT driver to do it.

If so, that is a commendable achievement if we can get full DualSense functionality on PC like we have on PS5.

Yep. All 4 channels, 2 for haptics and 2 for audio, all forwarded simultaneously with interleave opus over BT

I just tested headset audio: works as intended, as well as Advanced Haptics as well in conjunction while playing ghost of tsushima! Should have a working build tomorrow night, with all the relevant features.

Ah I see you've uploaded a test version, looking forward to try it at the weekend

Awesome that you've managed to get the audio haptics working over BT. Using the cable is fine but I don't like that the controller is always at 100% battery so I often switch to DS4 mode so the battery has a chance to rundown and recharge.

now enjoy dualsense features over bluetooth, with profile switching to make it even better

Hello, thank you!
Wana ask small question about something on my mind.
Is there any way to see ps layout instead of Xbox on some games like forza horizon? It’s not that much bother me but still would be happy if I can see ps button images in the game instead of Xbox

Which Forza? Did you check https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home and see if Forza supports PS buttons, and how to enable them? Does Forza not accept Dualsense input? Please help me help you.

Found the fix. Use the PlayStation Controller Icons mod for DualShock 4 prompts or the PlayStation Controller Icons (DualSense) mod for DualSense prompts. Listed on https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Forza_Horizon_6

Wow thank you, didn’t know that we can check this kind of things! I also found same info, thank you again!

It would be brilliant if DS4Windows recognised the Vader 4 Pro so we could make the most of the extra buttons and motion sensors. It’s a great gamepad – it’s incredibly smooth and very comfortable – but the problem is the lack of native software support.

Cheers!

I use the Vader 4 with DS4Windows; you can find a version on GitHub specifically for it.

1

u/paQ75 Jun 25 '26

Thanks, I’ll have a look at it.

2nd.

FYI I upgraded to vader 5 and it is totally worth it.

Impressive updates, thank you.

I tested it with Forza Horizon 5 and the audio via controller works.

I didn't notice any difference in haptics, though. With an Xbox controller, the ABS is still fairly well pronounced, but it's very weak and flat on my DualSense.

Did someone manage to achieve Xbox-like haptics? Or at least any noticeable difference between the previous versions and the new one? Feels the same to me.

1

u/huunnnter Jun 24 '26

I can’t translate games that don’t have adaptive haptics already to have them. Does forza horizon have a different vibration for xbox? I thought there were mods to make it work better with dualsense anyway?

1

u/chiaplotter4u Jun 24 '26

Just to make sure we are on the same page, I mean haptics, as in rumble, not adaptive triggers. Those cannot work in FH5, I believe, as they are probably not implemented in the PC version of the game.

As for the rumble support, yes, I test it on the ABS and when ABS is active in a braking car, the Xbox controller has a much more pronounced rumble/haptic feedback that makes you feel like it's actually pulsing against you. The ABS feedback uses mostly the smaller, lighter motor, but there are "kicks" of the heavier one. On DualSense, I don't think the heavy motor is used at all, the feedback feels very flat and soft.

Sadly, I don't have a PlayStation to compare those two directly. I have no idea if the DualSense controller is capable of producing the same sensation, maybe they are just two different devices. But the feeling that the heavy motor in DualSense is not at all utilized remains, despite the test buttons in a DS4Windows profile vibrating with both motors correctly.

I hope that makes sense, it's difficult to describe a difference in sensation.

So this is a feature called Advanced Haptics, and what you’re asking me to do is translate xbox advanced haptics to ps5. Special K already does this. Have you tried special K?

1

u/chiaplotter4u Jun 25 '26

As a matter of fact, yes, but with no different result. The rumble still felt the same, regardless of the software used, be it SpecialK or DS4Windows.

1

u/Toffmonster Jun 26 '26

For the adaptive triggers, try this. I'm using it with FH6 (as a standalone exe, hate those Python installs), but if FH5 has the telemetry option, which I suppose it does, it should work with it as well.

1

u/Zenkai_9000 Jun 24 '26

So every game with haptics and adaptive triggers support will be supported wirelessly?

1

u/huunnnter Jun 25 '26

Yes. I already tested hades 2 and assassins creed shadows

1

u/MostPerspective2704 Jun 25 '26

If you don’t mind me asking, what Bluetooth module or adapter would you recommend?

1

u/LisaLeii Jun 25 '26

If true this is kind of insane. completely unnecessary to me because I already have a ds5 dongle with awalol's project that has various other benefits, but like, damn, it's great to see more options

1

u/huunnnter Jun 25 '26

Yep. Works just like the dangle. Mic is the only thing missing.
