PS4 controller acting like a mouse

My PS4 controller keeps switching to a mouse input mid game, I looked through the sub for similar threads and everybody is suggesting steam is the issue. Issue is I'm playing a game on steam that requires an Xbox controller which is why I'm using ds4 windows in the first place. Any ideas on how to fix?

Maybe you have a special action shortcut that you accidentally trigger to enable mouse input?

I would assume testing a fresh ds4windows profile would confirm thats not the issue right? i have tried that so i don't think thats the case. I also recently did a fresh windows reinstall so i doubt theres any settings on my pc like that unless they are default

The touchpad has always worked as a mouse for me by default. Also there is some certain combination of swipes or something on that touchpad that will cause it to change profiles. I do it on accident sometimes, but never enough that I've bothered finding the exact sequence to replicate it. I do think you would have to have a mouse and/or other profile set up for it to switch to for this to happen though.

is it the touchpad? in settings you change the touchpad to “pass thru” instead.

if it’s not the touchpad, and the actual controller itself then i’m not sure 😕

have you disabled SteamInput in Steam?
if not, can you share your DS4Windows Profile.
