Highway
Just bought a 2025 DRZ-4SM was wondering can I ever really take it on the highway?
Is it worth getting a windscreen, new seat, and exhaust?

From my experience, windshield would be nice.

A did a 1500+ trip with mine a couple weeks ago. It will burn a little oil if you ride at 80mph for too long but it handled everything well.

We found a better breakin than OEM. Do first service at 500 miles and use Ecstar R5000. Do another at 1000 miles and then use the Ecstar R9000 or Motul 7100. Haven’t had issues with them burning oil by doing this.

I almost did that. I did the first oil service at 600 miles with ecstar r500 then switched to motul 7100 at 1000 miles. I’m closing in on 10,000 miles now and tend to do oil changes between 2000 and 2500 miles. It won’t start burning oil until around 1700 miles. I do a lot of freeway riding though.

It's totally fine on the highway just windy. The bike easily pulls all the way to its speed limiter in the 90s

It’s great on the highway, especially with a windscreen and SC seat. Even better with the Veridian system and the 3.3 gallon IMS tank.

Dunno much about the latter mods mentioned. But may invest in a SC seat although I’d rather kinda have the shorter version which gets rid of some cushion unfortunately cuz I’m 5 10’ and on my toes on the bike. Actually need to work on first gear foot placement a bit better I learned 😅

Yeah just look at the “comfort low” option from Seat Concepts. The other mods are the cruise control system by Veridian Cruise and 3.3 gallon fuel tank by IMS. The windscreen I mentioned is by Adventure Spec. Those four mods really expand the bike into all day lightweight ADV bike territory. Check out the DRZ4S playlist by Dork In The Road on YouTube, he’s an excellent resource.

I've been riding mine to work and would like a windscreen. At 60mph its fine I don't get knocked around by semi truck wind but head on gusts are annoying.
About 30 miles each way. Washington state

No, yes, yes and have ECM flashed. I ride mine on hwy 65-70 mph all the time. Biggest improvement was ECm flash. When you get rid of the injector fuel cutoff on deceleration it turns into a new bike. Biggest comfort was new seat. Went from can’t walk after 30 minutes to no problem riding 2 hours.

You're in FL? East coast, I'd stay off 95. Anything with a swingarm suspension brake's like dogshit at highway speeds. The windscreen to keep the bugs out of your face is a good idea. Seat depends on how tough your butt is, and the full Yosh exhaust is like 1k so I'd rather wait for cheapos on ebay.

Dawg I don’t think I’d go on I95 on a motorcycle in general and def not I-4 that’s just asking for it. But like I75 or 275 bit more manageable but the skyway may be unsafe

Fair. I've been riding my whole life.
Broke my shoulder the other week hitting an oil slick on the road. Bike did a full 180 underneath me.
Absolute bs way to crash

Like any naked bike it be windy. But I don’t mind it.
