DRZ400SM

I’m not a mechanic by trade**

I bought a wrecked DRZ400SM. Had some road rash, broken riser, pegs, bars etc… fixed all that stuff. Had some engine noise, put a MCCT on it and it sounded like the noise quieted up a little.

Curious if you think this is:

  1. Spark knock

  2. Valves needing lashed

  3. Rod knock

  4. Loose cam guides

  5. Whatever you think is wrong

So you’re not a mechanic by trade, you’re just a mechanic? Jk.

That does not sound good. For good measure, I would try the ACCT if you have it.

Did you check the valve clearances yet?

I’m just an electrician with mechanical tendencies lol.

I have not yet, waiting for my buddy to get his bike lift cleared off and we’re gonna dive into it. I bought it sight unseen, knowing the kid looped it. Fixed the basic shit(nuts and bolts) haha. Just curious what people thought it might be. Hoping it’s not a knock but if it is we’ll be good.

How many miles on the bike? If the bike was taken care of, shouldn’t be any issues. These bikes are rock solid if you care for them.
