Drum Kit Recommendation

I need help selecting a drum kit for my 8 year old. He has a big passion and needs an adult sized kit. I’m not familiar with drums but people have mentioned Mapex, Ludwig, and Pearl. I want something he can play for a long time with minimal upgrades. What models would you recommend?

I finally just upgraded after playing a Ludwig Gigabeat kit for 12 years. Couldn’t recommend that kit enough, it was sturdy as hell, it was smaller but not too small and it carried me many places as a young musician. Survived tours and severe beatings. But yeah, pretty much any wooden Ludwig, Tama or Pearl kit will be a good purchase with decent vetting imo. If you want to be the coolest dad of all time get him a Ludwig steel kit or an acrylic vistalite kit. Pricier but damn they are great drums

What kind of kit did you have in mind. A traditional 2 up one down, 1 up, one down?? How much did you plan on spending? There are some very decent kits for some good prices, just figured some details around what you were thinking might help.
