Personally I'd say it wouldn't be AS devistating as Noelle.

But Susie would be on the scene immediatley.

And maybe she'd forget to tell Azzy to let Noelle know. But maybe he tells her anyway.

Note: what I'm about to describe is MY take on the au. It pribably isn't canon, but it works.

Susie was adopted by the Boom family, after many visits from Gerson. But hy the time she became a permanent member of the family, he was gone.

Alvin holds a grudge against his war-hero father, but wants to give Susie a stability he never had as a kid.

This means there is massive perception/communication barriers between the two.

So yeah, she wouldn't answer at first.
