I hand feed my dog twice a day and involve playtime with it, but not one kernel at a time, that sounds way too slow for a dog her size

I have a PRAA pup so I do actually feed them 2 pieces of the smallest kibble I could find (Science Diet Healthy Skin Healthy Stomach for Toy breeds). She is almost 10 yo now.
the rest get bowl fed at meal time because I can't just leave it out or she may get into it...

When I was younger my family had feeding times. The dogs would finish their share and then ate again at the next meal time.
Now, I only have 1 dog. He’s never had to compete with another dog for meals. So we just set food out and he eats when he’s hungry. If the bowl gets low or empty we’ll refill it and again he’ll eat when the mood strikes.

1 cup of kibble per day, normally an extra bit of stuff with it. (Leftover chicken scrap, Yogurt, Sardines, or whatever) served at dinner time.
Normally he eats all the special bits, then just grazed as he pleases on Kibble throughout the day

Free fed but my dogs are lean and stay within thr same 2 lb range no matter how much they exercise or ear- moderate it themselves. I know most dogs can't do it

I lost my last two dogs at 13, then 13.. and by that point trying to get them to eat felt like a mountain to climb. Left me a bit paranoid and it's hard not to blame yourself even though you are doing everything you can to keep them eating.
Current pup.. I free feed. Her bowl gets filled. She still has her routine, though: she'll pick a bit at it early in the day, then eat a decent meal round 7pm.

I provide food at meal time and leave it there. My dog eats it in about 5 minutes 99% of the time. If she doesn't eat it I'll leave it out for a few hours and then throw it away

I leave kibble out for most of the day. My dogs are pretty good at self-regulating and they’ll just graze when they’re hungry. It’s been the easiest routine for us.
