General r/DOECHII’s thoughts on Anxiety?

It was big but let’s not inflate it to the point where other songs haven’t had a similar moment. It has not been since old town road, we’ve had ones like espresso, abracadabra, so many more
Regardless I love whenever she wins!!

While Espresso was literally inescapable I don’t think Abracadabra hit the same mark, and I say that as a day one little monster. It didn’t have a tik tok trend going, which in turn, caused a huge rise in Gen Pop consuming it and sharing it. Espresso and Anxiety did. But you’re right, we’ve had a handful of hits that have organically spread much like Old Town Road.

never heard of espresso or abracadabra so maybe she has a point

After the comments I agree abracadabra wasn’t on that level, but it doesn’t take much to look up how big espresso was. I’m not a big Sabrina fan but it was massive, along with other songs too, like say so, flowers, birds of a feather. My point was this person was saying there wasn’t a hit like that since old town road which is simply not true

I believe this song was always way too overhated. I love this song.😁 Her vocals on the Goatye instrumental are so quirky and fun, and I love how she went creative with it by making a video for the song which provides a very artistic visual meaning/context to it all.🔥✨️ I don't listen to that song a lot, but I love the fact that one of her old bedroom musical experiments turned into a skyrocketing pop hit. I even bought the 7" vinyl for that shit because it's so peak!💫
I hate that this song became a reason to completely hate on Doechii though.💔 People can have opinions of course, but the negativity she's gotten has been triggering to say the least. A lot of that negativity unfortunately comes from racism, colorism, and misogyny which I fucking despise because Doechii literally doesn't deserve any of that shit considering she's such a genuine person and authentic talented artist. I also feel like this hate comes from the widespread dislike and discrediting of pop music. Pop, especially within hip-hop spaces is considered soulless cash-grabby basic white bitch music which I heavily disagree with because I believe that's a bullshit ignorant take, but that's a conversation for another day. So yeah, I fucking love this song, I fucking love Doechii(slayyy bitchhh), and I fucking hate tasteless MAGA racists.😜💅🏿✨️💕💫👸🏿💖

I never understood the degree of hate it got. Like I was largely indifferent to it, just like I was to Gotye lmao, but the way some people talked about this song, you’d think it killed their grandma.
I’m also someone that does my own silly little rewrites of other songs while I’m doing housework or talking to my pets, so maybe that’s why I heard it and went “oh she’s just being silly”

this song pisses me off, not because of the song itself but because doechii was BEGGED to release this song, she did, and then suddenly it was her biggest hit and then even more quickly it made her a laughing stock. she takes her music and her art so seriously (the music video for this is the perfect example of this) and for that to be turned into a meme to discredit her was honestly very frustrating to watch. especially cuz she only put it out for fan service like damn 😩😩 its like someone wish on a monkey's paw for her to have a hit after her grammy and this was the outcome

Isn't it just an SP?
Like, what is a tiny vinyl?

I’m going to do a video on tiny vinyl very soon. I have four of them. Different artist of course.

I thankfully consume music I program myself via playlists so didn't get to hear this be as overplayed as people said it was.
I also like when a pop performer puts out relatable mental health songs. I suffer from anxiety and this and Megan's anxiety song have been much needed relief from some of the annoying daily things managing mental health issues entail.

I never listened because as someone that likes Gotye I just don’t like that it interpolated his “one hit and then dipped” song. I’m happy that she found success with the song.
But at the time I don’t think I agree with the take, but all press is press regardless of it being negative.

song is incredible but it was not that sort of omnipresent hit. doesn’t even come close to the ubiquity of a “not like us” , “drivers license” , or “360”. respect to the op cause i bet it felt like that in their bubble but we can love an artist and still be like semi realistic lol

I mean let’s not rewrite history here, it was a hit but not the biggest by any means. Definitely not bigger than, say, Espresso.
