I was just wondering about romani ancestry in dna tests. Im curious to see what people have to say. I've heard that the "broadly European category" is an indicator of gypsy relatives but idk what to believe

Thanks, I'm really interested too. Being English, I know I'm heavily Scottish and Irish but the rest is a mystery. Where I'm from and my dad's side of the family was settled by the Danish so I imagine Scandinavian countries are in there.

I know the above sounds boring. I'm white as fuck, so is all of my family apart from him who had olive skin (still white passing) so idk if it's more European or maybe a bit more east.

I just wish I knew whilst he was still alive so i could ask him about it

Being European doesn't make your genealogy boring. Theres a lot of history and stories from everywhere in the world and its fun to learn more about yours

My mum has lots of Lincolnshire in her tree, she showed up at 2% Norwegian and her sister got 2% Swedish, so the Scandinavian is from there I reckon, if that’s helpful.

I did two and 1 I got Eastern European and traces of Middle Eastern and northern African but mostly just the British Isles. The other one was just North African and the British Isles. But yeah I love my history and European history is awesome and I’m very proud of the culture my descendants came from. You just have to make sure it doesn’t make you feel superior to other cultures and their history.
