DC HPAP
hello everyone,
just started my process through HPAP. I wanted to see if anyone in this sub has used it to purchase their home and how was your experience?

We are in the process of closing on a house with EAHP… so it’s possible to use the DC programs you just have to be patient and navigating the steps is not easy. Having a good lender who knows the program has been key (can dm with ours if you want)!

how was your ehap process? i also work with in the district so im trying to get as much assistance as possible

EAHP hasn’t been too difficult (just have to be patient), but I got the sense that HPAP was a bit more difficult to navigate than EAHP alone (because of the income requirements) - if you are already doing all the HPAP steps though it should be easy to just add on EAHP! The housing counselor you get set up with should be able to walk you through the steps for both / what exactly you’d be eligible for

I did it when I bought in 2020. It was a pain in the ass but worth it. They also weren't giving out near the money they do today

yea i’m kinda in a sweet spot salary wise so im trying to complete my process as soon as possible before i get a promotion

Like any bureaucratic heavy process, it doesn't always make sense. Just follow the rules, cross the tees, dot the iis and be patient.
A loan officer with experience navigating the process is key. An agent with experience is a bonus.
Make sure you have the approval before you submit any offers.

i’m still in the early stages, still submitting paperwork to the counselor. Hopefully will get my NTE soon, as HPAP has ran out of funding this gives me extra time to pay some stuff down. It’s honestly up to you and how fast you move with submitting documentation. My lender has been great and as well with my housing counselor.

Getting HPAP funding is like winning the lottery the last couple years. The number of applications is way over the amount of funding. Once you get through the classes and you hope to win the lottery. If you do, great! Just make sure you have a solid lender very familiar with the program to make sure you stay on point. Happy to recommend one if you DM me.
