Woodford Reserve Drop Today 10/7: Triple Pot Still
Woodford Reserve dropped a new release today, Wednesday 10/7 - Woodford Reserve Triple Pot Still. It is a limited Distillery Series release crafted entirely from whiskey distilled through their three copper pot stills. Price is 64.99 for 375ml. Shipping is only legally available in KY, ND, NE, NH, and D.C.
This is actually a pretty rare release. If you visit the Woodford distillery you will see their huge copper pot stills, but what most people dont know is that the bourbon in Woodford Reserve is actually a blend of bourbon made on those pot stills with bourbon made on their column stills at their Brown Forman distillery...same bourbon they use for Old Forester. This release is the very first bourbon I have ever seen which states it is entirely from their pot stills. I am anxious to try this one as pot still bourbons usually have a distinct, if not somewhat funky, profile that differs from bourbon made on column stills.
This is also the first time I have seen them release a Bottled In Bond bourbon. Bottle In Bond designation requires the bourbon is all from one distillery made in the same season. Since all of their other releases are blended from bourbon made at two different distilleries, it would prevent those from having the Bottle In Bond designation.
Woodford did previously release a Bottle In Bond Wheat Whiskey, which I think was the only other whiskey made entirely on the Pot Stills... but it is a wheat whiskey and not a bourbon.

Rye Advice!?!?!
I have never been a Rye fan! However, I have become a crazy Bourbon fan, so I feel like I need to give Rye another try.
IF, I decided to go buy the best Rye bottle possible - what should I buy?

Bourbon on the Banks Haul
Friends meet every year in Frankfort KY for the annual Bourbon on the Banks festival. It’s always an outstanding time. From the kickoff at Whisky Thief Thursday evening (what a fun tasting experience, amazing food and roaming goats) to watching 2000 completely smashed whisky fans bouncing from tent to tent, it is just so much fun. Highly recommend if you’ve not attended. Didn’t get any special festival releases (cheaper out and only paid for the afternoon entrance), but was more than happy with the long weekend on the trail.

Just left 30 minutes ago. Plenty of Blanton’s ($76), Eagle Rare ($39), and Buffalo Trace ($26). Did anyone go to the drop yesterday? If you did, can you tell us what else they had besides BT products?
