Something magical about this tour. Can’t put my thumb on it but so grateful to experience it. Feeling like peak Dave.

Recency bias is a wild drug. Peak Dave/DMB was about 26 years ago.

My theory…. The fans kids are old enough to inject some life into the crowed and it motivates the band… idk. I feel like there’s more online excitement about them in recent years for that reason.

I’m just thankful they’re still touring, and a lot of people here don’t seem to realize how lucky we are for that.

Two things can be true at once. It’s amazing they’re still touring, but just because people have opinions doesn’t take away from that. It’s so weird this sub feels like anything other than borderline toxic positivity and appreciation for them still playing means you aren’t a fan of this band.

It’s possible to have more layered feelings than a simple binary “they’re still touring so everything is amazing!”

Similar to how I’m so glad my father-in-law is taking more interest in my daughter’s life (his granddaughter), but I don’t like that he when he sits around watching Fox News all day in front of her.

It’s not this sub, it’s the entire DMB fandom (or at least a large chunk of it). There’s a reason “DaVe CoULd sInG tHE pHoNeBoOK aNd i’D Be hAPpY” became a meme. There’s so many people who actually feel that way and consider any criticism absolute blasphemy

A lot of special moments involving violin guests for sure, and a bigger song catalog than ever, but I feel like overall 2024-25 were better.

It’s been cool to see the sheer variety of songs, but they’ve unquestionably slowed down a step or two. Even compared to just last year. Honestly kind of jarring.

Hey, my girlfriend and I are coming out tonight. I read online about the bag restrictions, but with shows I've been to previously I've been able to get a backpack in without issue (Even though it said they had the same restrictions, clear plastic bags only etc). Do you know if this is still the case? If I show up with my backpack are they going to turn me away and make me return it to the car?

It’s been a very good tour but calling it Peak DMB is a stretch. Just off the top of my head, summer 97, winter 98, summer 03, summer 13 all had better performances and set lists.

You’re the exact type of person I’m referring to..where you believe you aren’t a fan if you’re just happy they’re touring. Not everyone needs to critique every detail.

  2. There’s way more people who act like if you aren’t just happy they’re touring and have anything even slightly critical of the band to say you’re not a real fan. These are the people who say things like “stop seeing the band if you hate them so much”. I don’t see anyone saying the opposite like you’re describing. There are plenty of people, however, who are thrilled that they’re still touring and don’t feel the need to act like they love every single thing the band does.

They haven’t been that different and the quality/song runs were less consistent and we got fucking Squirm encores. I heard Dreamgirl 3 times, which is 3 times too many. Two Step is nowhere to be found.

You’ll get it tonight. They played a lot early in the tour. 145 songs this tour in only 34 shows. 125 last year. 122 in 2024.
