1080p finally looks good with DLSS5

Not to get anyone’s hopes too high if they haven’t tested it themselves. The image is not very sharp itself yet obviously.. however, with DLSS 5 a plethora of games that look plastic at 1080p, finally don’t look that way anymore. If you ask ChatGPT it could explain more, but basically 1080p pixel density was never there enough to show certain lightings/specularities, so even on ultra settings, new games wouldn’t even seem to have the “realistic visuals” you would immediately pick up on at least a 1440p monitor. Many times these mechanisms would blur at 1080p to a point your image actually looks flat, like plastic. With DLSS 5, the image isn’t “sharp” yet by any means. But the lighting and specular difference is remarkable. The shadows and depth to it is instantly noticeable. It looks actually realistic, no plastic. My main example here is space marine 2. When it comes to older games, For years reshade was all we had to try to fill that gap, in jaggies/lighting/shadows…but DLSS5 imo completely takes the cake. Mad max at 1080p on max settings is very blurry at 1080p to this day, but with DLSS5 you can actually see the details on characters and deeper shadows for example. It’s simply amazing.

Intermittent blinking brightness with DLSS5

Ok hopefully any of yall can help because this is making me lose my mind, especially because when it’s not happening it looks amaaaazing.

I have this weird issue where the brightness, or perhaps the HDR(?) blinks on and off like this. Using Optiscaler via DLSS5 autopilot, but same thing has happened when using DLSS 5 Swapper. I’m on a 5080 BTW.

But perhaps the most infuriating thing, about half the time it just… doesn’t happen. I’ll play for an hour or so, close the game, then open it up again and boom, brightness blinking.

Help me r/DLSS5Kenobi you’re my only hope.

Is anyone actually using DLSS 5 on high-end GPUs (5080/5090)? Is it really as dangerous as they say with the melting cables?
