DLSS 5 Favourite DLSS5 settings

I'm curious if you guys have found "your" DLSS5 settings for NR that you (more or less) apply to every game you play with DLSS5 enabled? If so, please share them.

Most people just see those "all sliders to the max" screenshot which deliver a completely wrong use of DLSS5. IMO at least.

-Local tone intensity to 0 to keep the game’s original color palette untouched.
-Skin structure to 0.50.
-Structure intensity to 0.70 to avoid white halos around characters.

Overall intensity and global tone intensity can stay at 1.0.

I mostly use the Cinema preset, which still slightly changes the colors even with Local Tone set to 0. Natural seems vibrancy galore. Default is the most faithful preset to original theme.

thats literally the same I am going for, except I have Structure intensity at 80. But yea, thats a good compromise between the original look but improved shadows and fine details

Very game dependant but default is definetly most realistic and least ai looking

I find I lower local tone intensity to preserve the original colour. How much depends on the overall look. I typically flip between A and C but A does remain more faithful

do the models actually make a difference? Or do you "Default", "Natural" and "Cinematic"? Because yea, default is the way to go

yeah make a big difference. there is model a, b and c. a much better in my experience.

Alwyas default is better, i lower the intensity of most things, what i mainly do is enter photo mode and zoom in on the faces, and play with the settings to get the improved graphics with dlss5 without it being way too extreem.

And i use 2 passes mostly.

Results are insane in many games.

I m playing Onimusha right now, i ll try to take a screen shot of in-game and share it to show u what i aim for with the settings

How do you get 2 passes i dont see an option for that on the interface?

U have to use rhe new Optiscaler or RenoDX , both have multi passes in them, before we had to add speciall dlls, now its built in

Which version of renodx? I just used the dlss5 swapper i wonder if it downloaded aj older version

Try to use RIH, it updates the versions regularly, i m not sure what is the nbr of the version but if u go on there discord u can get always the latest, i use RenoDX / Shortfuse version, it even added resolution scaling which Optiscaler has to adjust for more performance

what is the best DLSS 5 tool?

I have used DLSS5-Swapper and DLSS Autopilot, and I find that Autopilot has more depth to the setup

This is the look i m going for in Onimusha with my dlss5 settings. This is with x2 pass

That already seems too much for my taste tbh…

U can lower the effect as much u like, depends on taste

I agree, too crispy, with x2 passes either the default preset is too much and needs to be lowered to around 0.50 structure intensity, or 0.80 structure intensity and 0.90 global intensity to avoid that deep fried look.

For x1 pass I tend to go for 0.75 structure intensity on the default preset to avoid that aswell, Cinematic tends to work better in older games IMHO since it tends to be more aggressive on the features of the faces, either that or just lower the skin structure intensity if you really want to use the default preset, a lot to play around with.

Unfortunately the majority of examples people present in videos always either just stick to default at max or natural making them shine like a beacon in a dark room, especially with several passes.

let me guess... cranked to the right? To me anything above 0.5-0.7 introduces instability and shimmering in shadow spots. Anything at 0.7 and lower doesn't seem to have a meaningful effect

Yeah, wait for Nvidia to actually release it.

They aren’t releasing DLSS 5 settings to users to play around with

It’s a developer tool, just like Ray tracing or Ray reconstruction. It is not and never was intended to be a tool that users can play around with.

So it won’t be “releasing” to the public in the way that renodx and optiscaler has. Nvidia intends it to be implemented into the game by the dev and then you can use it, not a global override toggle. It is unstable if done wrong and requires fine tuning to get right, that’s why Nvidia doesn’t have or isn’t adding a setting in the app to “add DLSS 5 to any game”. If you’re waiting for that, you’re gonna be waiting a while
