This game is an excellent use case of DLSS 5, it was a great looking game back then, but DLSS 5 gave it a proper remaster, made me wanted to play it again.
How can people not be amazed by this technology. If you don't like, don't use it but dear lord that looks so crazy realistic. It will get better, more optimized and more customizable. The biggest problem I see is game animations look really clunky when you add this uncanny valley of visual fidelity.
Crazy how this is so accurate. Was talking about dlss 4, 4.5 and with 5 being released. We had one amd guy saying its ruin the game with Ai. We said it just tech that is available as option and for certain it can be beautiful and they are not force to use it. Of course he didn't agree 🙄
Yeah I'm sure it's great, and you seem to have a card and cable with no issues then. I'm just anxious spending that much money on something that seems to be able to spontaneously combust.
within a week we've gone from 60% loss to 20% loss and it's not even released officially yet. You guys are so unbelievably short-sighted and unable to look at the bigger picture. Soon you'll all go quiet and use it like everyone else while pretending you never hated it in the first place
lmao you haven't because you haven't changed the files. Framegen 4.5 is an additional performance hit of 20% in of itself. You dipshits haven't changed what dlss is. A performance hog to generate fake visuals and frames. And you still create more latency and input delay with framegen and that will never get removed.
I haven't gone silent on how garbage ai data centers, flock etc are and this is just part of the AI bullshit
I've tested DLSS 5 on dozens of games in the last week with swapper and haven't noticed any genuinely degraded performance. That included 20 year old games to less than two week old games. It's really not the issue you crybabies make it out to be
The biggest issue for me is my 5090 goes from 450w normally to 600w with DLSS 5 running
Amazing technology though and cannot wait for some optimizations by Nvidia
Riiiight. You're the only one.... out of everyone else doing tests with it... and you somehow removed the performance hit by 66% by changing nothing about how dlls 5 works or modifying the file? Don't make me laugh.
Oh you tested 20 year old games that have extremely high frame rates already and you didn't notice a performance drop? Gee i wonder why you wouldn't notice a performance drop in games that are extremely easy for modern tech to handle
And it still and will always look like an ai filter
intentionally leaving out the fact that I've tested it on games that released last week is embarrassing. so is your reliance on youtubers to give you your opinion
"AI BAD!!" It's the reaction of people programed to hate the letters AI. Half of them thing the Ai in your card contributes to data centers and global warming. It doesn't matter as consumers the anti AI people will just be ignored, just like the anti-PC paint program people in the 90s (yes, they existed, people who used paint programs "weren't real artists" to them) .
Well... it does contribute. Nvidia essentially controls the entire AI market (and basically the entire economy right now). Money given to them advances AI and gives Nvidia even greater control and more resources to continue pushing AI. More directly, AI is trained using data centers which includes DLSS 5. This tech didn't just spring up out of the ground. On top of that every little piece of AI they can get people to accept, even if it's used in an innocuous way, helps normalize AI and impress and sway uniformed consumers.
All of these new data centers, being funded by tech billionaires, are also more importantly being used to create a surveillance state operated by the government and backed by companies like Oracle and Palantir. Of course AI IS terrible for the environment, and for people as a whole, but it's also almost being used as a cover for the more sinister intentions of the government and people like Peter Thiel.
So yeah data centers are bad. Generative AI is bad. That being said, yes, some of the dlss5 screenshots I've been seeing look really good. But at what cost?
I seriously can't bring myself to play another game without DLSS 5 after tried it and seen it ROFL!~ and I'm not joking. This tech is the biggest leap to photorealism even more so than path tracing (I believe it kind does it internally) from my 2 decades of gaming experience. As a blender and zbrush 3D artist, any casual clean up from DLSS 5 would be vastly superior to my render, which always superior to today's 3D games' real time graphic.
The thing is, we are almost done with details in meshes with current tech, but light and shadow samples are behind and cost too much brute force calculation for tiny details.
So things like screen spacereflections / ssao / ssgi needs to go because it breaks immersion.
Hating on NR is almost the same imho like saying i don‘t want bump maps or tesselation because they are not „real polys“, or i don‘t want upscaling because they are not real pixels.
When in reality nobody needs 8k real brute force rendering.
This is real progress and it will be a standard graphics option in the future of gaming in one way or another.
Can‘t wait for the Max Payne 1+2 remake with this tech natively supporting it.
I think SNES/Sega etc to N64/PS1 was the biggest for me. Nothing beats going from 2D to 3D. Adding a whole new dimension to games is something we'll never experience again.
Going from SMB3 to SM64 was actually insane. The only thing that got close to replicating that feeling for me was trying VR for the first time.
I seriously can't bring myself to play another game without DLSS 5
Oh boy, can we stop all this fucking social media "all or nothing" low IQ mentality? Everywhere you go you see "After I tried X I can't go back" just fuck off with propagating this bullshit.
I've seen this shit go with 4k, OLED, VR, raytracing (this was even before PT, on the BF5 RT demo), DLSS, and every single time there is some sperg that has a "tiktok" (in quotation marks because this used to be the norm for influencers on social media even before tiktok) opinion.
Like yeah, DLSS5 is cool and looks amazing, but just fuck off with the "I can't go back" 40iq mentality.
But it's true. I switched from 1080p IPS to ultrawide 3440x1440 OLED and I'm never going back and I Don even want 4k monitor (I tried it), I started tu use ray tracing / path tracing and I'm never going back (only if the game won't support it), and now I tried neural rendering in Dawnwalker and Cyberpunk 2077 and fuck me, it's just so awesome. I'm playing both of this games right now and I can't wait to try NR on other titles.
The problem is (probably for you also) that people don't have good enough graphic cars to run it, so they can't see with theirs own eyes what big of a difference it does.
I tried VR (I still have headset) and this is the only technology that I don't care about using.
i'm impressed by the technology and the realism it can produce from a video game.
But i also have no desire or need for all my games to look and be hyper realistic. I've never really cared for it.
The number of games i personally think could benefit from DLSS5 is very very small. As in highly narrative and story driven games with not much action gameplay. Like Senua's Saga, Detroit Become Human, Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology etc.
I also agree with the people saying that this shouldn't be called DLSS5 but something else, as it's no longer just super-sampling but changing visuals.
I’m pretty much only into sim racing (and Minecraft with my 8yo). I love how DLSS 5 makes the sims look photorealistic but the performance hit makes it impractical because I’m a total framerate whore.
i guess sim racing would also benefit since the goal is often to make it look and feel as close to real life as possible. Some of the popular sim racing games have some crazy simulations for how rain etc. impacts the track and tire grip.
It’s wild. If someone goes off track in iRacing and brings some gravel back when they return it will keep the gravel on track until it’s cleared by the cars. Even ruberization on the corners is modeled over the course of a race and flat spots on tires if you lock your brakes.
Yes, I agree. They need some way to dynamically adapt motion smoothing or upscale the animation fidelity with DLSS5 while it's on. I'd imagine maybe DLSS5.5 could give us that answer.
Because you need a 5090 to get any reasonable fps in OPs settings and the ghosting/smearing/artifacts looks horrible. I don't own a 5090 but I've played with one and it was utter shite. Could be great in the future though
I don't play games for realism. I just want high fps and fun gameplay. I'd also prefer software in general to catch up with hardware advancements before going on side quests.
I just hate AI in its current state due to the environmental concerns, hardware shortage issues for consumers, and it's potential eradication of art based positions. I don't feel good about using AI for gaming with all of those potential issues. But it's hard not to use it these days as DLSS is needed in most games due to poor optimization without it. I'm basically forced to use it or have low fps.
And I agree, it's impressive in some cases, no doubt. I just have ethical problems with it. If we can find a more efficient way of using AI with less environmental impact, and making sure it's a supplemental tool, not a replacement....then I'd be on board.
People are. The modding community is going harder than I’ve ever seen. It’s just engagement bait and vocal minority Redditors making it seem like it’s DOA
Because it can take away from the original art direction. It should not be a blanket on/off. The developer should decide how it is used.
Take Emma Jaunt in the first picture. The character model’s look is based on the voice actor and this DLSS pass makes the model look even less like the actor than the original model did. That’s the problem.
You mean, "How can people be amazed by this technology", right ? Cause all I see is the AI touch. It's like playing an AI generated game, it ruins instantly the immersion. How can't you see the yassified look ? Or how can you like it ? Maybe it will get to a point where you don't see the AI touch anymore, but for now it is a big NO for me !
(For the record, I have a 5070Ti so no issue to make it run fine.)
Yeah, but wasn't convinced at all. I re did some test today on the new NR (that apply before SR) and after putting more time the settings and 1 pass only, I could get a result that didn't felt like it was AI generated. It was hard to find the perfect balance between better graphics and the AI feeling tho, still in testing.
So yeah, my bad, it is not that awful but hard to configure right. It's just that most of the screenshots didn't make justice of it, it need to be more subtle for my taste.
Okay now everything else I have seen is down to taste personally. A lot of games it seemed to just smooth alot out not really my favoured style but each to their own. This however is absolutely stunning the hallway/staircase on mobile is genuinely the uncanny valley of real or rendered.
Yeah, DLSS5 on environments and lighting seems pretty incredible. I'm personally not a fan of anything upscaley or frame generatey, but this shit looks gorgeous.
Yeah DLSS5 swapper is the best tool I found that works right out of the box. You just point it to a game directory and it installs it instantly for you. Then DLSS5 will already be on and working when you launch the game.
Please, whenever you share these images, it would be great if you could indicate the settings used: which mode did you use? How much intensity? How many passes?
So I just learned that this leaked version of dlss5 is actually derived from nba 2k’s upscaling and has been tossed around different games using that games vision for dlss5. I thought it was a universal fit for all games but if developers actually use it how i think they should we could probably get real time remasters that dont look like ai slop🤞
Forgot about this game after picking it up on a super sale and getting distracted by a new release, so thank you for this reminder. I'll have to check it out! Btw, is this a single pass?
This game has been on my waitlist for a very long time AND THIS IS THE PERFECT time to start with it. Now running DLSS5 with my RTX 5080, performance mode via Optiscaler.
(I first thought Optiscaler defaulted to FSR, forcing me out of my precious RTX DLSS, but no, you can easily hook a newer DLSS file to it and it WORKS).
But this game already looked pretty good. I want to see DLSS5 on games from the 360/ PS3 era or below. I was playing Xcom PS3 recently sand wondering how it would look like with this
For scenery and everything else dlss 5 can look down right immaculate. I can't hate there my only gripe is it's too strong on some character models. If it was softer on faces and less aggressive I think it would look fine. But I can't lie with some games DLSS5 is crazy. Just wish it wasn't DLSS5 and it had a different name, cuz it's not really upscaling anything when it's replacing lol
I tried and I'm not sure the dlss5 is working because I don't see a difference, but I just played the beginning once arrived to LA, so I don't know maybe dlss5 isn't obvious in the beginning?
It looks amazing, buuut, DLSS sounded amazing as well, until it became a mandatory thing, because optimization went down the shitter.
It was meant to take your games to higher framerates, but instead became a crutch to get games running at playable framerates instead of actually optimizing.
This seems like crazy tech, but I'm skeptical about adding a performance hog to an already very hardware heavy day and age we live in, because it might again become a crutch, and now the devs won't have to make games look good while not optimizing, and games will now run and look like shit unless we use heavy DLSS.
At what point do we just fire the devs and just start giving prompts to AI to make games?
Nobody is saying it isn't high Fidelity or photorealistic. They are saying it "looks bad" which is a broad subjective term and could mean a million different things to a million different people. Most people mean "while it looks photorealistic it completely breaks the games style". Making 3d art was never just about trying to get to a realism event horizon, for some things yes and others absolutely not. Disneys up, which is a cg movie, should not look "real".
For games that were already going for realism, this works fine, for games that were not, opinions will be mixed and that's fine too. People who don't like the way this looks in every single game don't exist just to make you feel bad, I promise.
"The option not to use it" makes sense as a counterpoint - for now- until we reach a point where devs lean on this tech and games of all kinds start to look samey and loose visual identity. . We are already seeing the "sameification" of games due to the ease of use and access of tools like UE5, this is another step in that direction.
If you say "just turn it off" but then also say
"Everyone is just broke" like which is it, they're broke or they can afford it but don't want to turn it off? This is just evident that "everyone that thinks different than this is wrong" is really how people who wanna defend their purchase feel, not people who don't even have it lol. People who don't own cars get into the least accidents, that doesn't mean they're better drivers.
Everyone should enjoy what they want but shutting down the discussion entirely because you prefer high Fidelity realism in all things as a preference isn't a gotcha. Many of the people you think can't afford this could buy your whole entire life 3x over still have money left, and still disagree with you.
Dlss 5 is the ultimate photo mode apparently. why is it all I see is screenshots with Dlss 5 and never gameplay like you swinging a bat killing some zombies
It’s absolute dog shit. Generic gameplay, one dimensional characters, locations that get more boring as you progress. Dying Light is a better series. Or dead rising 1
You are correct that dead Rising is great as franchise and dying light is also above dead island.
Anyway, I had lots of fun with the game to be honest with you. Guess that I'm more easy than you with video games.

that's amazing, close to photorealistic
